Your impact:

This position will join the Oprah’s Book Club team at Oprah Daily. The social media editor & community manager will plan the social media content calendar for the OBC feeds across all social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and others) and be responsible for writing and posting content, responding to Book Club members, and helping to grow and engage the Oprah’s Book Club community for Oprah Daily. This role will work closely with the Oprah Daily social designer to create engaging social content, will collaborate with the Oprah’s Book Club team to publish high-quality, engaging social content that carries the Book Club community through its reading cycle, and will be a champion for Oprah’s Book Club content in the social space.

What you’ll do:

  • Create social content calendar for Oprah’s Book Club social channels
  • Write social media posts and work with contributors to create posts for OBC social channels
  • Collaborate closely with designers, editors, and other members of the Oprah Daily team in support of Oprah’s Book Club social content
  • Post and manage all social feeds for Oprah’s Book Club
  • Respond to and engage with the Book Club community on social media
  • Work with content strategists and social editors on timing and distribution strategies for Oprah’s Book Club content to support continued growth and engagement for the Oprah’s Book Club community


Who you are:

  • 4-5 years of professional, post-grad experience working as a social media editor for a consumer editorial brand, preferably lifestyle or something similar
  • Literary eye and passion for books and all things book-related
  • Social media expert with a deep affinity for social conversation and community growth
  • Proven editorial skills and/or related professional skills
  • Excellent at producing high-quality, social-friendly content
  • Deep familiarity with and affinity for the Oprah brand and the Oprah’s Book Club community
  • Good judgment as to what works to drive audience and engagement on social platforms, in digital media, for the Oprah audience, and specifically for the Oprah’s Book Club membership
  • Versed in all relevant social platforms and current on platform developments
  • Comfortable working in digital content management systems and ready to learn Hearst’s proprietary CMS
  • Knowledgeable about Google Analytics, Adobe Creative Suite, social scheduling software, and other common software and digital tools
  • Must be a bridge-builder and problem solver, excited about the opportunity to operate in an entrepreneurial environment and build a new brand
