WHO WE ARE

The Cut, a New York Magazine site, is home to the conversations that matter most to women today — from politics and intersectional feminism to work, money, relationships, mental health and sex — and forward-thinking coverage of fashion and style.

The Cut is part of Vox Media, the leading modern media company. We guide our audience from discovery to obsession. We inspire essential conversations about what’s now, what’s next, and what’s possible.

As a community of journalists and storytellers, business professionals, creators and technologists, we believe it is a moral and business imperative to amplify voices: to cultivate diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our organization and media. This applies to our candidates, our teams, our storytelling, our creative work, and our platforms, products, and partnerships.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Package and translate our journalism to feel native to the platforms on which they are published, without sacrificing editorial voice and integrity
  • Take initiative on planning social rollouts to amplify our most original and ambitious journalism
  • Capture social-first multimedia with talent and at cover shoots
  • Communicate platform best practices back to the editorial teams and identify opportunities to develop social talent for our platforms
  • Work closely with the engagement and analytics teams to track and analyze data to help inform platform strategy
  • Explore new social media trends and platforms, ideate on new audience potential and traffic streams
  • Be flexible to the demands of a newsroom schedule

WHO YOU ARE

  • 3+ years of experience
  • Prior experience with growing an audience on social media
  • A strong voice, keen visual eye, sharp sense of humor, and deep understanding of the Cut’s editorial sensibility
  • Strong writing and editing skills, impeccable attention to detail, and an intolerance for errors
  • Sound editorial and news judgment
  • Creativity and a passion for new storytelling formats
  • Deep understanding of social media trends across platforms and familiarity with analytics
  • Fluency in internet and pop culture

If you think you have what it takes, but don't meet every single point in our job posting, please apply with a cover letter to let us know how you believe you can bring your unique skills to the Vox Media team or get in touch! We’ve hired chefs who became editors, DJs who became UX designers, and sommeliers who became writers.
