Social Media and Influencer Assistant

Your Mission:

Use your marketing skills to change the world for animals. PETA is seeking a Social Media and Influencer Assistant to correspond with our supporters as well as influencers on PETA’s social media sites and contribute to our growing social media presence across a variety of platforms. PETA is the most engaged-with advocacy organization on social media and reaches millions of people each month with hard-hitting emotional animal rights content, you'll help animals by keeping their message front and center and assisting the social media team on sites like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok.

Our social media team is comprised of individuals who strategize and create engaging content that helps spread awareness for animals in need, as well as correspondents who communicate with hundreds of curious people online every single day. Our work has been featured in countless media outlets from Late Night with Seth Meyers to CNN to BuzzFeed to the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. One single post on one of our accounts can often reach over one million people, so there is no question that if you join our team you will be making an impact. 


What Your Day Will Look Like: 

  • Helping save animals is PETA's biggest priority. You will monitor incoming comments on PETA's social media accounts for animal emergencies and questions regarding PETA's biggest issues, responding as appropriate.
  • You will help with influencer experiences, photoshoots, events, and unboxing campaigns from start to finish—inclusive of set up and take down of events and submitting any necessary internal requests for these campaigns. 
  • Since social media success depends on acting in real-time, we post when the moment strikes. You'll need to be available on some holidays and weekends to correspond with members of the public on PETA’s social media accounts and to attend events.
  • You will monitor influencer accounts on social media for mentions of PETA and animal rights, looking for opportunities to help build relationships and extend the promotion of animal rights messaging
  • You will seek out new influencers across social media platforms for engagement opportunities and add them to our database of influencer contacts as appropriate 
  • Participate in brainstorming meetings
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor


Requirements

  • Although this position is work from home, candidates must be Los Angeles-based so that you can attend our in-person influencer experiences, shoots, and more
  • Must have access to transportation or must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver's license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record
  • College degree in a related field or equivalent experience 
  • Minimum of one year of experience in an office environment in person or remotely 
  • You must have a working knowledge of social media influencers and an eye for seeking out influencers who are under the radar
  • You must have extensive knowledge of social media and working knowledge of the Internet
  • Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office software 
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills: on social media, you have less than three seconds to grab someone's attention, so every detail counts! 
  • Proven ability to conduct and analyze marketing research
  • The content on our social-media pages often reaches more people than any of our other online channels. Working with these pages is a HUGE responsibility, and you must be confident and ready to take it on while being open to feedback on how to improve. 
  • You'll be working quickly and navigating a large organization with many goals. We need a go-getter with a passion to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • You must have the proven ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Social media moves at the speed of light, you must really be able to crank out high-quality work within short timeframes 
  • You'll be responsible for getting our message out to the mainstream audience, so you must know PETA campaigns inside and out including knowledge of the vegan lifestyle and animal rights issues
  • You must support PETA's philosophy and have the ability to advocate our positions on issues professionally
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • COVID-19 full vaccination and booster recommended

The hourly pay range for this position is $19.24 - $20.24 per hour. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
