Social Impact Specialist

The Social Impact Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and programs focused on diversity, inclusion, and equity for external audiences. This role establishes and maintains relationships with organizations working on positive social impact initiatives such as equity programs, cannabis decriminalization efforts, and environmental sustainability in established and developing markets, including state equity program participants and their companies. This role is to ensure that our business practices align with internal processes and are inherently equitable. 


Essential Functions

  • Coordinate opportunities to increase awareness of and involvement in social impact efforts company-wide for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with the Diversity and Inclusion specialist and HR Department generally to align social impact initiatives with inclusion and belonging initiatives within HERBL.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and execute strategic social private and non-profit partnerships that fulfill our mission to connect the cannabis community and increase opportunities for those negatively impacted by the criminalization of cannabis.
  • Influence our DEI story and employer brand cross-functionally to engage with a diverse audience for talent and partnership opportunities. Advise business leaders on strategies to embed inclusive messaging throughout company communications plans, client philosophy and community reach initiatives.
  • Assist with the development and execution of strategic internal and external communication plans for the company’s social impact initiatives; assist in building employee awareness of internal social impact initiatives.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of company events, including community events, sponsored events, media events, and other special projects.
  • Serve as the company’s spokesperson on matters related to DEI.
  • Develop and evaluate a selection process to increase diverse representation among HERBL's vendors, community partners, customer collaborations, etc.
  • Create a roadmap that embeds DEI actions that are fully integrated with business goals, drives innovation, and is directly reflected in the company’s brand identity.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of related experience in outreach or corporate communications role.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or communications, or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading social justice/social impact projects.
