Senior Vice President, Risk Governance Framework

The Risk Framework team within the Enterprise Risk Management function of Independent Risk Management is responsible for designing and driving enhancements to, and facilitating the execution of, the firm’s risk management framework to strengthen the firm’s risk management capabilities.


We are looking for an experienced risk professional to support the firm’s risk management framework and related governance mechanisms. The responsibilities of the role are significant contributors to the success of the broader team’s mandate to deliver best-in-class risk governance programs and processes. The successful candidate will have risk management experience at large banking institutions, strong communication skills and work well in a team environment across a range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and support the adoption of the firm-wide Enterprise Risk Management Framework by all the lines of defense, across businesses/functions, countries and legal entities and act as the subject matter expert on risk governance framework-related activities
  • Deepen internal networks with senior management and team leads to cascade firm-wide risk governance principles and standards into underlying policies and processes
  • Lead the gathering and deployment of expert knowledge of the evolving regulatory and industry operating environment to inform the design of governance mechanisms to account for their potential impact
  • Coordinate and support assessing the implementation of the firm’s risk governance framework across the lines of defense
  • Lead and support regulatory and audit reviews at various levels


Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably in a role that requires superior critical thinking, problem solving and excellent oral / written communication skills (e.g., consulting, regulatory)
  • Experienced in assessing and/or implementing risk management frameworks and the lines of defense model at large banks, in alignment with the OCC Guidelines Establishing Heightened Standards
  • Proven experience in driving own book of work and delivering against firm-wide, cross-risk initiatives
  • Understanding of financial risks (i.e., credit, market and/or liquidity) and/or non-financial risks (i.e., operational, compliance, reputation, strategic), and of financial services businesses and products
  • Adept at building relationships with key stakeholders and influencing, negotiating and developing consensus to drive change
  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory expectations and industry best practices in risk management
