Senior Vice President, Federal Planning

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Part-Time Senior Vice President of Federal Planning for our Atlanta office. Become an integral part of the Federal Planning Team and help meet our clients' objectives and solves their challenges while working with a dynamic and growing practice. 


Our expertise includes military master planning, programming, climate resiliency planning, zero emission vehicle planning, facility utilization studies, requirements analyses, aviation planning, munitions planning, facility programming (15% design), and DD Form 1391 development. 


The ideal candidate will be an established DoD master planning leader with experience in a wide range of project scales and subject matter. The person who fills this position will provide strategic development and team leadership within the Federal Planning group for U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps clients, including National Guard and Reserves.


The ideal candidate will have experience leading teams to develop DoD-specific project deliverables with accurate and concise written and visual documentation. The Senior Vice President will lead strategic growth initiatives and lead emerging programs with a diverse range of DoD customers.

Your Impact 

  • Lead emerging programs and complex projects for DoD customers. 
  • Lead diverse teams of planning, engineering, architecture, and other technical staff to complete complex planning projects on time and on budget. 
  • Lead strategic growth initiatives charrettes and manage group exercises, coordinating closely with junior staff. 
  • Lead strategic initiatives and business development opportunities. 
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders and serve as the point of contact for government clients for a diverse range of contracts.  
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously and communicate effectively to deconflict competing priorities and schedule deadlines and direct team members to do the same. 
  • Conduct client coordination and administrative tasks as needed. 
  • Manage and grow client relationships to foster additional work opportunities. 
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate data analysis and project reporting. 
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. 
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required. 

 

Who You Are

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field. 
  • 15 years of professional experience, including leading Federal Planning teams. 
  • A current passport and ability to travel a minimum of 30% of time, including air and international travel.  
  • The ability to support potential extended (multi-week) travel and international trips. 
  • Ability to lead unique studies to evaluate multiple alternatives for large projects that will assist in large DoD customer project decision making. 
  • Client relationships that can drive additional DoD business and planning opportunities 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Ability to obtain a US-Government issued security clearance. 
  • Experience leading Military Planning teams. 
  • Holds a professional certification (PLA, AICP, RA, PE, and/or PMP). 
  • Membership of and/or active participation in local professional practice organizations. 
  • Ability to grow and maintain relationships with Federal clients.  
  • Willingness to provide team leadership and growth for Federal Planning team members at all levels.
