Senior Tax Accountant

As a member of a hi-performing collaborative tax team this tax professional will be responsible for assisting with preparation of tax provisions & projections for life and non-life entities and foreign subsidiaries in accordance with US GAAP and STAT accounting principles. Analyze tax accruals for reasonableness and accuracy and ensure proper tax and accounting treatment. Assist tax leadership in analyzing key tax functional metrics including effective tax rate, cash-tax due to the IRS and tax free cash flow. Assist tax leadership in developing modeling anticipating major worldwide tax reforms and legislative changes. The tax professional will also provide support and assistance in tax initiatives related to the FMG tax transformation process to enhance tax process standardization of multinational tax departments and effective use of tax technology tools. 

  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare interim and annual US GAAP and Statutory income tax provisions/projections in accordance with ASC 740 and SSAP 101 including analysis of the effective tax rate (ETR), current and deferred tax liability, taxable income and cash tax settlement with the IRS and internal tax sharing.
  • Prepare US international tax calculations including SubF and outside basis.
  • Prepare tax forecast and reconciliation to the US GAAP and statutory financial reporting, including effective tax rate, taxable income and cash taxes, key variance analysis and trend analysis 
  • Maintain standardized work processes that support US GAAP and STAT reporting and compliance
  • Assist with tax planning and tax reform modeling

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Taxation.
  • 4+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP or US STAT income tax provision requirements and/or
  • Tax return preparation and review
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks workload and comply with financial reporting deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Word and Power Point. Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Willingness to learn/support team members in any capacity to ensure timely completion of deliverables
  • Ability to adapt to different cultural norms and experience of leading a culturally diverse team

 

Preferred:

  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Public accounting or consulting firm working as a dedicated tax professional
  • Experience with PeopleSoft general ledger system preferred. Knowledge of Alteryx is a plus
  • Technical experience in insurance or life insurance tax and tax accounting, (ASC 740, SSAP 101 preferred)
