Senior SEO Specialist

Remote Irvine, CA

The Senior SEO Specialist will report to the Sr. Manager of SEO and support our organic search efforts across all B2B and B2C products and campaigns. This role works closely with the SEO team and agency partners, as well as cross-functionally with the content, product, engineering and design teams. As an SEO practitioner for Weedmaps, you are passionate about SEO, results-driven, and thrive in a fast-paced environment at a rapidly growing technology company.


The impact you’ll make:

  • Execute day-to-day projects of larger initiatives that drive visibility, traffic and conversions through our organic search channel
  • Optimize titles, meta descriptions, headings, images, links, and other on-page elements
  • Perform research into consumer demand and emerging trends that help inform editorial strategy
  • Assist with reviewing progress and deadlines to keep projects on schedule - Analyze, track and report on campaign performance - Use research and data-driven insights to assist in planning larger SEO strategies
  • Develop your own projects and initiatives that further the effectiveness of the SEO program


What you’ve accomplished:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 3-5 years of full-time SEO practitioner experience (agency or client side)
  • Proven on-page SEO expertise: keyword targeting strategy, optimization of titles/meta descriptions/headings. Experience using keyword research tools such as SEMrush or Ahrefs
  • Experience running technical site audits with tools such as Botify, Screaming Frog or Deep Crawl. Can distill and articulate key recommendations from a given site crawl
  • Sound knowledge of SEO concepts such as redirects vs. canonicals, crawling vs. indexing, robots.txt, schema markup, response codes and keyword cannibalization
  • Google Analytics and Search Console experience
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving and execution capabilities. Proven ability to manage and complete projects independently - Excellent communication and documentation skills in business and technical situations Bonus points:
  • Experience with large e-commerce websites
  • Experience supporting site migrations
