Senior Manager, US Patient Marketing

Boston, MA

The Senior Manager, US Patient Marketing, Neurology, gMG is a member of the commercial brand team and will play a critical role in developing initiatives/tactics and driving strategy for people with generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) and their loved ones.  


This individual will be responsible for executing the gMG patient marketing plan developed as part of the brand team and collaborating with key cross-functional partners who support the patient experience.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

Key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of the US patient marketing strategy, including tactics and budget allocation
  • Create and execute multichannel marketing initiatives for the gMG patient community (e.g. educational presentations, campaign development, patient ambassador content, among others).
  • Drive development and implementation of core marketing initiatives in a competitive environment
  • Manage Alexion’s gMG patient ambassador program, including content development, relationship management, and event oversight; patient interview experience preferred
  • Communicate with and train cross-functional colleagues (e.g. PEMs, Advocacy, Corporate Communications, Promotional Review Committee, etc.) on gMG patient marketing materials and initiatives
  • Lead creation and execution of innovative patient education tactics to support patient identification and retention
  • Partner with market research colleagues on research projects to better understand the gMG community
  • Communicate via written and oral presentations about marketing progress to senior commercial leadership  
  • Route marketing collateral through Legal/Medical/Regulatory approval; partner with other review stakeholders (Compliance, Privacy, Pharmacovigilance) as needed
  • Works with the highest degree of professionalism and in accordance with the company’s code of Ethics and Business Conduct


Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience and understanding of core marketing principles; rare/orphan disease experience preferred but not essential
  • Experience gaining material approval in legal, medical, and regulatory review
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize
  • Experience in managing external agencies and vendors on a day-to-day basis, and managing promotional budgets
  • Patient ambassador experience strongly preferred
  • Empathetic, ethical, tenacious
  • Proven history of delivering high-quality work, with a focus on details and utilizing industry best practices
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; flexible and detail oriented
  • Strong presentation skills in various settings
  • Fluency in English both written and oral mandatory
  • Ability to travel 25%+ of time
