Senior Manager, Innovation Design

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Consumer Health business to create a new publicly traded company. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 24 months, and it will be subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as required, and other customary conditions and approvals.  

  

It is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, this position may be conveyed with New Consumer Health. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to the successful candidate by New Consumer Health at an appropriate time and would be subject to any necessary consultation processes. 

 

Role & Responsibilities:

You will:  

  • Collaborate with designers, technologists, and business managers to envision how design unlocks business opportunities; and create new products, services, and experiences.  
  • Work across every stage of the product development lifecycle to ensure that concepts and design decisions are sensitive to both the needs of users and our businesses.  
  • Design and oversee qualitative research activities, from traditional focus groups to digital diaries and ethnography, to more agile testing methodologies.  
  • Generate powerful consumer insights, develop breakthrough innovation solutions, and craft new products, services, and business model concepts.  
  • Lead the development and design of new products, services, and business model ideas.  
  • Frame portfolio opportunities based on both business strategies and consumer insight.  
  • Create and optimize concise and compelling innovation prototypes with precision.  
  • Stimulate and inspire cross-functional teams – both internally and externally, by crafting inspiring business narratives. 
  • Confidently identify and match key transformational consumer insights and their commercial insight counterparts.
  • Partner with any external agencies and vendors to support business requirements as needed.
  • Manage entire project timelines while ensuring compliance, good financial performance, business partner satisfaction, and high deliverable quality.  


Technical Skills  

Human-centered, design thinking, ideation, and sketching, service design, brainstorming, storyboarding, copywriting, wireframing, data visualization, rapid prototyping, quantitative and qualitative research, ethnographic research, brand strategy


Professional Skills  

Purpose-led compliance, project management, research strategy and planning, team and personal organization, servant leader communication, agile methodologies  


Software

  • Adobe (Illustrator, XD, InDesign, Photoshop)  
  • Microsoft Office  
  • Apple Suite  
  • Miro / Mural or similar  
  • SolidWorks / Figma or similar  


Qualifications

  • At least Bachelor’s Degree in design or related field or significant equivalent professional experience 
  • A minimum of 10 years of design leadership-related experience  
  • Strong visual, written, and oral communication skills 
  • Proven results managing myriad multi-disciplinary design teams 
  • Demonstrated experience guiding business partners through the design process 
  • Financial budgeting skills and competency 
  • Up to 80% hands-on design work, including strategic presentations 
  • A Portfolio link MUST be included on each resume
