Senior Manager - Executive Protection & Event Security

Lead the Executive Protection (EP) & Event Security program as part of the Physical Security & Resiliency (PS&R) organization at VMware, an industry leader in cloud services. What is primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?
The focus for this role is on safeguarding our executives from the unique threats they face and overseeing the security of our global events, in partnership with the global security operations team. You will evaluate risk, recommend mitigation strategies, and execute against approved plans. You should have a passion for protecting others, the ability to solve ambiguous challenges, and experience leading complex operations at a global scale.
This role is also responsible for overseeing the Event Security program assisted by the Event Security Lead.
Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
- Understand the executive team’s requirements, working styles and establish clear objectives and an operating model for the EP & Event Security programs
- Establish strong working relationships and trust with key executives and their administrative staff
- Align team members to a common purpose and bring the team together to operate as a high performing organization
- Establish strong working relationships with key individuals and teams across the global PS&R, Info Sec, IT & Workplace teams that will be essential to accomplishing the EP & Event Security program objectives
What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
- Develop and refine policies and procedures that govern the EP program.
- Develop a network of vendors capable of supporting global EP operations, managing these vendors in line with agreed SLA’s / KPI’s.
- Review, recommend, and procure equipment and technology deemed necessary to enhance the personal security of individuals.
- Partner with the Threat Mitigation team and external risk consultancies to create comprehensive threat profiles unique to each individual. Develop and execute risk appropriate mitigation plans that are tailored to each individual’s needs including any needed surveillance.
- Monitor the principals travel schedules. Plan and coordinate personal security needs for internal and external events where a principal is present.
- Maintain professional relationships with government agencies, law enforcement and peers across the security industry. Be willing and able to travel, often with little notice, as required.
- Manage access to key executives by visitors and team members and respond to incidents.
- Additionally, may transport top-level executives in company vehicles and provides additional service as needed for top level executives. Conduct advance special event surveys in preparation for executive's arrival.

This position reports into the Global Head of Physical Security & Resiliency (PS&R). The broader PS&R organization is responsible for global Physical Security, Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and executing the Enterprise Resiliency governance framework that includes BCP, Disaster Recovery, Crisis Management & Emergency Response. PS&R is a highly distributed & diverse team with team members located across the world and proudly representing various ethnic backgrounds & nationalities as ONE team. The team operates in a highly collaborative manner and focuses on building strong business partnerships & trust with its various stakeholders to achieve our shared objectives.
