Senior Manager, Creative Operations

New York, NY

The ideal candidate will be well versed in managing projects for an in-house creative team with knowledge of the consumer marketing process, including print and digital, from initiation through final execution. The Manager of Creative Operations maintains and manages our creative department’s consumer marketing projects, by directing and coordinating the day-to-day creative department efforts on assigned projects.


In this role, the Manager of Creative Operations insures that the department provides:

  • Sound and responsible project management and planning.
  • Manage scope, timelines and budgets of assigned projects
  • Support of execution of work in all assigned areas.


Responsibilities

Planning 

  • Collaborates with the marketing team on preparation of project initiation, scoping and budgeting.
  • Develop workable budgets, schedules and realistic timetables.
  • Provide project status updates on a regular basis
  • Liaison with appropriate teams / departments in the creation of project specifications and time plans.
  • Determines project risk on an ongoing basis, escalates issues as needed.
  • Monitors out of scope requests, variations (global), initiates additional estimates and approvals.


Coordinating

  • Monitors and prioritizes scope and execution of work.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners within creative, marketing, GBSC and Sales on defining project guidelines, specifications and timelines.
  • Ensure consumer marketing materials are tracked and delivered to final destination.
  • Monitors all budget and production activity, communicates status, problems & project needs to appropriate department and personnel in order to meet project deadlines.
  • Oversees each phase of the internal and external approval process, copy, scripts, layouts, art, assets, mechanicals, translations, proofs and printed samples.
  • Keeps project status reports up to date
  • Coordinate (with or without vendor assistance) media assets to appropriate vendors.


Project Management

  • Manage assigned projects, involved with client projects from start to finish, ensuring successful project completion against deadlines.
  • Works with team and / or program manager to best determine project timelines to ensure coordinated efforts across program is being completed.
  • Acts as project quality assurance — reviewing deliverables against scope
  • Asset Management, sourcing through final delivery
  • Initiates and leads all appropriate project based meetings.
  • Attend and contribute to Creative Operations meetings and Creative Department meetings.
  • Attend marketing meetings, and / or assigned department related status meetings (i.e. marketing & creative operations meetings.
  • Work closely with outside vendors (retouchers, publications, color houses, printers, binderies) to ensure delivery to market and that all final artwork deadlines are met.


Financial & Administrative

  • Monitor all internal and external costs for assigned projects.
  • Creates and maintains all project backup, status reports, PO’s, estimates, schedules, change orders, technical and production specs, preproduction books and any other associated backup.
  • Manage vendors on assigned projects - create purchase orders, monitor actual vs. budgeted costs.
  • Works with finance to insure proper billing vendor billing


Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Digital or Broadcast production
  • Interest in and aptitude for producing creative marketing solutions
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a producer or project manager in a creative agency, in-house or production environment (consumer marketing environment)
  • Experience in integrated marketing preferred
  • Well versed in executing campaigns across multiple platforms
  • Proven project management ability
  • Self-motivated and willing to expand knowledge
  • Experience working with teams to develop and negotiate project scopes and budgets
  • Ability to self-manage while managing assigned teams and projects under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues at various level.


The anticipated base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $156,000. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
