Senior Manager, Corporate Communications

The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications will report to the Executive Director, Editorial Strategy and Internal Digital Channels, and be responsible for guiding the editorial strategy and sourcing, drafting and editing content for our internal communications channels, including our intranet and digital screen network. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with colleagues across the Enterprise Communications group and beyond to develop a pipeline of written stories, videos, infographics, podcasts and more in support of our enterprise editorial strategy and campaigns. They will also support the development of a colleague-focused social media program, including creating content for external social media platforms.


The successful candidate:

  • Highly skilled in writing in a human voice that grabs the attention of busy colleagues and in developing content that presents company information in the same tone, formats and quality that colleagues find when consuming external social and traditional media
  • A proven track record of producing clear, concise, compelling and clean copy covering complex subjects on tight deadlines
  • Developed novel ways to engage distracted audiences through multimedia, strong voice and tone, unique formats and structures, and interactive elements
  • Experience sourcing stories and developing a story pipeline across an industry or at a large organization
  • Worked in a newsroom, on an editorial staff or on the content team at a large organization
  • A strong knowledge of popular and emerging social media platforms, their users and their functionality
  • Excellent executive presence and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to effectively deliver in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment


Key responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with the Executive Director to establish and evolve an editorial strategy that supports company objectives, and create and execute a content program in support of the strategy
  • Conduct interviews, review documents and use other information gathering methods to draft stories, video scripts, digital screen content, infographic outlines and more to share company strategy, progress and news with colleagues
  • Edit content created by others to ensure consistent voice, tone and quality, and alignment with editorial strategy
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Communications colleagues to determine how to cover company news and events in a way that captures colleague attention and connects to enterprise strategy
  • Develop and execute a set of feature series to profile colleagues, highlight our culture, explain key aspects of our business and cover industry trends
  • Create content that fosters a two-way dialogue with colleagues through comments and colleague submissions
  • Build a network of subject matter experts throughout the company to source stories and gather information
  • Lead a project to develop a social media program designed to communicate with colleagues


Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years writing and editing experience in journalism or at a large organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing a social media account and producing content in a professional setting
  • Experience writing about consumer health care


Education

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications or a related field
