Senior Manager, Communications

Samsung Electronics America is seeking a qualified Sr. Manager, Communications that will help develop and implement a strategy to communicate and advance Samsung’s public policy, regulatory, and, community engagement priorities in Washington DC and beyond. The Sr. Manager’s responsibilities will include supporting with thought leadership, strategic partnerships, media relations, crisis communications, and event planning and execution.Role and Responsibilities

  • Communications Planning:  Help develop and implement a communications plan that advances Samsung’s priorities and thought leadership positions to targeted stakeholders (officials, regulators, trade associations, think tanks) through earned media, owned content, partnerships, digital and social media strategies.
  • Content Development & Distribution:  Build original, compelling content that will drive awareness of and engagement on Samsung’s policy priorities.  Distribute content through multi-media campaigns that factor in social, owned and paid opportunities, partnering effectively with Samsung’s Communications team and outside agencies.
  • D.C. Media Relations & Opportunities:  Develop and maintain strong relationships with key media and influencers in D.C.  Source and execute impactful speaking engagements, interviews and other opportunities for Samsung employees in furtherance of policy priorities.
  • Events:  Own, strategize, and build thought leadership events – including event set-up, staffing, budgeting, execution, and reporting. 
  • Internal Reporting & Analysis:  Develop and refine metrics to demonstrate critical impact of communications function on USPA’s success.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Well-versed in the new world of content development and the most impactful channels for policy and thought leadership communications.  
  • D.C.-focused media relations experience (educating, pitching, and responding to media inquiries). 
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with a variety of constituents, including high-level policy officials, academics, executives, suppliers, and employees. 
  • Expertise in strategic communications planning, including the development of measurable objectives and associated KPIs.
