Senior/Lead Graphics Engineer

Remote (United States) Austin, TX

We are looking for a Senior or Lead Graphics Engineer to join us at BossAlien, a division of NaturalMotion, in creating Star Wars™: Hunters, a competitive arena combat game for the Nintendo Switch system and mobile devices. Star Wars: Hunters will bring players together to engage in thrilling, team-based, multiplayer battles featuring a diverse array of distinctive new Star Wars characters. 


We are seeking a Graphics (Rendering) Engineer with deep graphics programming experience to join our world-class team, and lead our charge in bringing AAA visuals to life on mobile and Switch. We are seeking individuals who proactively contribute solutions themselves and also inspire ideas from others. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with engineering, design, user experience, product and analytics teams to identify needs and work to specifications to implement software solutions.
  • Write well crafted, efficient and testable code in C++ and HLSL/GLSL for Vulkan, DirectX, OpenGL and Metal.
  • Tackle problems across rendering, optimization, tooling development, and making beautiful visuals run smoothly on a wide range of devices.
  • Bring a proven understanding of algorithms, design patterns, debugging and memory/performance optimization.
  • Strive for excellence in software craftsmanship, and collaborate with peers to improve software design.
  • Grow with the business; stretch yourself and learn new skills and domains.
  • Have fun; we’re making games!


DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 6+ years proven experience as a console or PC software game developer
  • Strong C++ and shader language programming and debugging experience
  • Experience working with current graphics algorithms and hardware
  • Expertise with debugging a wide range of graphical issues
  • 3+ years experience with Unreal Engine or an equivalent proprietary game engine.
  • Excellent problem solving and strong interpersonal skills

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $125,000 and $230,000 per year.


The pay range for this position in New York City at the start of employment is expected to be between $120,000 and $215,000 per year. 


This is a fully remote role that may be based anywhere in the United States. The pay range for this position for applicants based in Colorado at the start of employment is expected to be between $85,000 and $150,000 per year. 


However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
