Senior Lab Operations Assistant

Summary: Senti Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated Senior Lab Operations Assistant to support our dynamic and rapidly growing R&D and GMP manufacturing teams. We are seeking individuals with a passionate drive to make smarter therapeutics” and have the energy and boldness to thrive and grow their career in a startup environment. An ideal applicant is organized, able to multi-task across multiple lab responsibilities, and comfortable in a fast-moving culture environment and should have knowledge and experience needed to perform equipment maintenance and calibration. 


This role requires travel between our headquarters site in South San Francisco, CA and our manufacturing site in Alameda, CA.


Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and perform daily calibration, maintenance, and cleaning of lab equipment, (cytometers, plate readers, Luminex, and others), document service reports, develop maintenance SOP’s and PM schedules
  • Monitor, maintain and defrost freezers and incubators (e.g. temperature monitoring, issue logs, maintenance, organize freezer space) as needed
  • Provide support to functioning lab as appropriate (use of ordering system, manage lab supply consumables, maintain inventory lists, off site storage etc.)
  • Perform weekly medical waste inspections/removal and review/sign manifests as needed
  • Review and sign hazardous material waste manifests as needed
  • Perform weekly change out of liquid nitrogen and other lab gasses
  • Support the Manager in implementing new processes, systems and SOPs/guidance
  • Receive and process (including unpacking and checking) of received laboratory samples
  • Back up lab manager/Supply Chain with shipping & receiving, facilities, including off hours, as needed
  • Collaborate to keep labs safety inspection ready
  • Back up to perform inventory of in/outbound shipments, logs samples into sample management databases and manages sample discrepancies as necessary
  • On-call response for REES/eControl remote equipment alarms 
  • Work in accordance with all applicable SOPs, as appropriate, to complete sample handling and processing activities and according to local health and safety rules
  • Support the warehouse operations team, ensuring safe, compliant execution of the on-the-floor warehouse operations in the cGMP facility including receiving, put-away, picking and component preparation for manufacturing/quality control and product shipping
  • Maintain inventory control throughout the Alameda warehouse for all materials; per applicable procedures to ensure periodically reviewed and accurate.


Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in science or equivalent recognized qualification
  • 2 -3 years of experience with sample handling and processing laboratory environment
  • GMP experience required
  • Familiarity with molecular biology related to aliquoting, preparing, and maintaining DNA stocks
  • Demonstrated experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to build working relationships across functional areas
  • Strong work ethic with ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently and with minimal supervision


Salary and Benefits:

  • Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual target bonus and equity
  • The base salary range for this role is $94,000 - $108,000. Starting pay is determined by multiple job-related factors including a candidate’s skills, education and experience level, benchmark, and internal parity
