Senior IT Analyst

Verano is looking for a creative, self-starting Data Engineer who can help explore the ever-expanding cannabis data landscape. A successful candidate will be able to tackle analytics across many different subject areas, maintain the existing platform and improve Verano’s analytic capability across the enterprise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional groups such as Finance, Marketing and Operations to ensure all business needs are understood such that appropriate analytic plans are developed and quickly implemented.
  • Work collaboratively with third party software providers and data providers to design, implement and support optimal interfaces for data acquisition.
  • Select and leverage the appropriate tools, technologies, and languages to build, execute and operate the data pipelines between Verano’s business systems and Verano’s analytics environment
  • Define data governance assumptions and procedures to ensure data quality and reporting accuracy.
  • Continually enhance, expand and improve Verano’s analytic data models to support consistent, fast and complex decision-making requirements.
  • Incorporate machine learning, predictive models and/or artificial intelligence into the data pipelines to produce richer and more informative insights to the organization
  • Perform ad-hoc and exploratory analysis on new datasets or new concepts
  • Clearly communicate important insights and KPIs to leadership or executive stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering role in a cloud environment.
  • Bachelors (or equivalent experience) in a quantitative field, such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, finance, or accounting required.
  • Must have experience building pipelines that acquire, transform and aggregate data from various sources to a conformed data model that can be consumed by business intelligence platforms.
  • Proficiency in the following (or similar) technologies: Python, FiveTran, BigQuery, Google Cloud Platform, SQL. Advanced skills in more than one technology preferred.
  • Experience utilizing a BI tool (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, etc.)
  • Familiarity with different statistical modeling practices is beneficial.
  • Experience in CPG, Retail, Pharmaceuticals is beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have strong problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Operates with autonomy, discretion, and integrity.
  • Ability to think strategically, execute tactically, and collaborate across many teams, levels and situations.
  • Pronounced bias to action and a sense of urgency; able to quickly form, communicate and defend a point of view. Demonstrated ability to think-on-the-feet and make quick decisions.
  • Bachelors (or equivalent experience) in a quantitative field, such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, finance, or accounting required.

Working Environment:

Preference is at the company’s corporate headquarters in Chicago, IL. Secondary markets of FL, PA, CT, MA, RI, NY, NJ, AZ, NV, CA, WV, MI, OH, MD, AR would be acceptable. Will consider other locations for the right candidate.
