Senior Financial Analyst

The Senior Financial Analyst will ultimately report to the Director of Resolution Planning and will be largely responsible for supporting the Resolution Planning team in conducting financial analysis that supports team’s efforts in meeting the FHFA’s resolution planning requirements. The role will require coordination with business and divisional colleagues to work on all aspects of the Resolution Plan, and the position will be primarily responsible for supporting the plan’s financial analysis and the development of new financial forecasting capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity as resolution planning is new to the Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs).

Our Impact:

The Capital Planning, Resolution Planning, and Stress Testing division is responsible for the planning, forecasting, and optimization of capital. The team focuses on the oversight of all capital management, capital planning and elements related to risk appetite and capital contingency, stress testing and scenario design, as well as strategic and policy initiatives. Resolution Planning is a new addition within the capital team and will offer new opportunities across all areas. In addition to driving something new, the position will also help develop the Enterprises’ resolution strategic analysis, financial analysis, and capabilities. In this regard, the role will support a wide range of analytical work that will help decide and support Freddie’s strategies – including capital planning, resolution planning and capabilities within the stress testing framework. 


Your Impact:

As a member of the Resolution Planning Team you will:

  • Partner with the Resolution Planning Director and Team, as well as colleagues across Freddie Mac’s businesses and divisions, including Legal, Operations, Investments and Capital Markets, Regulatory Affairs, Finance, Enterprise Risk, as well as other departments to support the design and development of the Resolution Plan
  • Support the design and implementation of a resolution planning process that aligns with enterprise, regulatory and stakeholder expectations
  • Focus on the development and implementation of financial capabilities for the resolution program, including development of financial forecasting models and processes, capital and liquidity analyses and metrics
  • Utilize these financial capabilities to conduct detailed analyses and develop conclusions regarding the enterprise’s resolvability
  • Support the initial development of regulatory materials support Freddie Mac’s resolution plan, including analyses used to support management and regulators make key decisions regarding its strategy and approach 
  • Support other areas within capital to help garner a more comprehensive view of capital across a stress continuum (from a business as usual (BAU), stress and resolution perspective)


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of related professional / industry experience in financial modeling and financial modeling processes – previous financial analysis experience in a bank setting is preferred; previous experience in capital, liquidity, and / or stress testing preferred but not required
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills, with previous experience in financial modeling and forecasting for a financial firm
  • Strong MS Excel skills, with previous financial modeling or coding experience desired – resolution planning is a very dynamic and complex space that will entail thorough financial analyses, in addition to active stakeholder engagement / communication regarding such analysis
  • Knowledge of financial model governance practices, namely in terms of documentation, as well as review and challenge
  • Adept communication skills, including ability to distill key messages from complex financial requirements, assumptions, and results to senior management, regulators, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to synthesize feedback from various stakeholders engaged in the resolution planning and forecasting processes, as well as propose solutions to complex problems
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ownership of work product from start to finish
  • An undergraduate degree is required. Advanced degrees (MBAs, Masters, preferred)

  • Ability to quickly learn complicated concepts and take feedback from subject matter experts to obtain desired inputs/results for analysis
  • Develop proposed solutions to an extensive range of complicated problems-solutions should be innovative, thorough, and practicable
