Senior Finance Strategy Analyst

This position is part of a newly formed Finance Strategy organization, and will be based in our corporate office in CA. The role will encompass all forms of financial analyses including project finance, FP&A and enterprise valuation. 


About the role - you will:

  • Be customer focused, be proactive and provide deep insights
  • Create hypothesis, use data to test hypothesis and proactively present analyses to internal customers
  • Provide deep insights: Focus on the why behind the why
  • Support Chief Strategy Officer Organization
  • Work closely with internal customers including executives, operations, sales, product managers, and technical resources
  • Perform financial analysis of new ventures
  • Compute cashflow, NPV and IRR
  • Evaluate overall financial fit of new ventures
  • Evaluate performance of existing portfolio of investments
  • Provide strong recommendations on portfolio organization and harvesting
  • Support organization with project/ad-hoc analysis requests and provide strong recommendation
  • Support Long-Term Planning
  • Define a smooth and efficient process to supporting long-term planning
  • Ensure strong coordination between the different teams including Sales, Operations, R&D, Finance and Business Marketing
  • Provide perspective on long-term plan’s financials and capital allocation
  • Evaluate underpinnings of gross margin percentages 
  • Perform cost analysis, understand sensitivities and provide risks and opportunities to GM percentages
  • Provide guidance on business mix to maintain target GM percentage model
  • Support Chief Technology Officer Organization
  • Perform financial analysis on new investments in new technologies
  • Sizing of market, estimate share and provide revenue projections on new investments
  • Support Strategic Committee with ad-hoc financial analysis
  • Build financial tools

Your experience includes:

  • Basic accounting
  • Financial statement analysis
  • NPV, DCF and valuation
  • Cost of capital analysis
  • Sensitivity analysis
  • Scenario analysis including Monte Carlo simulation
  • Familiarity with derivatives and bonds 
  • Research and/or analytics, ideally in market, business, or financial analytics function
  • Statistical modeling techniques 
  • Proficiency in financial modeling using spreadsheet software
  • Ability to develop cooperation and foster teamwork at all levels while maintaining integrity of their point of view
  • Ability to think strategically and present concise information to senior staff
  • MS Excel and experience with SQL databases
  • Managing multiple projects and deliverables
  • Developing own milestones and manage deliverables of others without direct authority
  • Bachelors degree and/or equivalent experience

 

You might also have:

  • Degree in a quantitative field (economics, finance, statistics, applied mathematics, computer science or quantitative majors)
  • Experience working in the storage industry with knowledge of Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) and Solid State Drives (SSDs)
  • Tableau or other visualization tools experience
  • Industry knowledge in storage technologies, cloud, enterprise systems, or computer hardware is a plus
  • Alteryx or other data analysis tools experience
  • Experience with pricing tools
  • Business consulting experience  

 

Colorado's 2021 Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) requires we inform you of the estimated base salary range for this position: $98,200- $143,000. Actual salary range is based on fair market value of the role in the geography in which you live based on the requirements of the job and your skills. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and Seagate reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
