About the Senior Director, Data Analytics and Business Intelligence role at Headspace:


The Headspace Data Team empowers the organization to make data-driven decisions, and provides critical business insights that help us execute in a world-class fashion. We are seeking a talented and motivated leader to accelerate our efforts to drive trust, adoption, and democratization of insights. The Senior Director will work closely with Engineering, Marketing, Product, Finance, and Sales teams to build systems of intelligence empowering product development and marketing/sales while uncovering business opportunities from behavioral data. A successful candidate will have a strategic vision for how to leverage data at scale, be technically strong and business savvy, have excellent communication and collaboration skills and will provide great leadership and mentorship to this team.


Location: This role is open to remote employees in select US states: California, New York, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Maryland + Washington DC, North Carolina and Washington.

  • Lead and define the vision and strategy of the data analytics & business intelligence team
  • Drive data fluency throughout the organization through the creation of standardized metrics, intuitive dashboards, and compelling business insights
  • Collaborate with the functional teams (product, marketing, etc) to align on roadmaps for data priorities to support company and team priorities and OKRs
  • Partner closely with leadership and business stakeholders to embrace a culture of hypothesis-driven innovation; help stakeholders identify key questions, structure experiments, and interpret results to power data-driven decisions
  • Deliver key business insights to senior leaders and the board of directors that help optimize business performance
  • Collaborate with data engineering to ensure a world-class data infrastructure. Design and implement analytics solutions and definitions that enable consistency & scalability with cross-functional teams
  • Manage a team of data analysts and BI engineers to define and align on priorities and OKRs
  • Mentor team on strategic analyses & career growth, and be a talent magnet that retains and attracts top talent


What you’ve accomplished:

  • Degree in business, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, or other quantitative fields 
  • 10+ years of experience as a hands-on manager of a data science/analytics team
  • 5+ years of experience providing business insight support for senior executives
  • Focus on data-driven decision making and learning by experimentation
  • Experience leading large technical projects with engineer partners (engineers and data engineers)
  • Experience in both internal and external storytelling and executive presentations
  • Expertise with analytics tools, data visualization, SQL, R, or Python, Databricks as applied to data science and analytics
  • Deep experience with subscription businesses is strongly preferred
  • Deep knowledge of data models, experimental design, and execution
  • Strong ability to communicate complicated and nuanced insights in accessible language to relevant stakeholders
