Where we need help

  • The footwear development team is the central hub where Allbirds’ shoes become a reality. Our team is looking for a tenacious, highly organized, and well-rounded go-getter to join us in leading all things related to product fit, performance, comfort & organization. The footwear team has the special privilege and responsibility of bringing exceptional, thoughtful, and sustainable products to our consumers. We strive to deliver super natural comfort in each of our footwear products and the input from our fit/wear testers partners is critical to our success. Our team is looking for someone who can immediately make an impact on our fit & wear testing program by using their experience to build on and improve our current process. Our ideal candidate will have experience recruiting testers & managing quarterly fit/wear tests for both lifestyle and performance footwear products. They should be a self-starter who is comfortable working cross-functionally with the ability to clearly communicate areas of product improvement based on data analysis gathered during the fit/wear process. What does the job entail? 

  • Partner with cross-functional project teams - including development, design & product strategy - to design comprehensive test plans for each model across both Lifestyle and Performance footwear categories.
  • Recruit and build a solid network of authentic tester relationships across various geos, activities, and consumer segments using MESH01.
  • Lead multiple rounds of onsite & remote product testing to analyze fit, comfort, performance, & durability of each product to ensure delivery of world class footwear product.
  • Demonstrate excellent ability to collect and analyze tester feedback, identify trends in tester data, perform durability inspections, write reports, and elevate findings to key stakeholders and cross-functional teammates.
  • In collaboration with footwear development, build a strong understanding of footwear components, technologies & manufacturing processes to effectively identify technical footwear issues and suggest solutions.
  • Ability to think both creatively and analytically with excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills.
  • Deliver product feedback on time with the go-to-market calendar and lead discussions from the product testing point of view during cross-functional product reviews.
  • Manage information & data collection processes using digital tools such as Google Drive, MSOffice, MESH01, Centric PLM, BOX, Asana and others.

More practical skills needed

  • 2+ years in footwear product testing or production creation.
  • BA/BS or equivalent, a plus if in biomechanics, kinesiology or industrial design/engineering.
  • Experience with survey design utilizing both quantitative and qualitative research methods with proven ability to analyze data and provide actionable feedback to cross-functional partners, MESH01 experience a plus.
  • Solid understanding of footwear development and manufacturing processes with a willingness to learn about cutting edge materials.
  • Exceptional project management experience to maintain focused deliverables while managing multiple competing priorities.
  • Quick, adaptive, and robust communication skills with the ability to take complex feedback and distill it to the key takeaways to inform decision making processes related to product fit, performance, comfort & durability.
  • Experience working both independently and collaboratively.
