Senior Accountant

Charlotte, NC

This role will be responsible for various general accounting areas with a primary focus on trade spend, consumer promotional spend, returns and other gross to net income accounting tasks and processes as well as accounting for transactions related to the independent distribution partner network supporting our direct-store-delivery model. The scope of this role covers the Snacks (US) division. A successful candidate will be highly motivated to learn and to be considered a go-to resource by others on the team and cross-functionally. Candidate must be well-organized and flexible.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries for accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and/or review account reconciliations for completeness, accuracy, and quality.
  • Understand business transactions and how they impact responsible areas.
  • Complete thorough analytics over responsible accounts.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities within the team.
  • Assist or train associate level accountants, as needed.
  • Create and maintain relevant end-to-end process flows and/or desk-top procedures.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing relevant information and documentation.
  • Participate in strategic efforts for continuous improvement, standardization of processes and deliverables, and efficiency projects.
  • Be a strong value-added business partner to the Corporate Controllers group, the Division Finance teams, and the functional counterparts.
  • Manages and assists with special projects as assigned by the accounting & finance team leadership as needed.


MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (BA in Accounting or Finance preferred)


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 3 - 5 years of relevant accounting experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP required.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED):

  • CPA certification or CPA candidate preferred


OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED:

  • Highly motivated and proactive in problem solving required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet deadlines and business demands preferred.
  • Experience with SAP and/or Blackline a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to interact well with a diverse set of team members, external partners, auditors, etc. and adjust to your audience.
  • A continuous improvement mindset (identifying opportunities and executing corrections).
  • Taking ownership over tasks and processes in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure.
  • A strong attention to detail.
