Sales Manager

Remote Washington, District of Columbia, United States

Industry Dive is seeking a Sales Manager to lead a team of 5-8 digital advertising sales professionals on our quickly growing sales team. The right person for this job will have a listen first attitude, be direct, honest and kind with their team, uphold the company’s culture of transparency, deliver negative and positive feedback appropriately and be able to have honest, transparent, and authentic communications with their team.


Day-to-day would include:

  • Managing your people
  • Meeting with reps on a regular basis to review performance, progress, and targets
  • Delivering deep performance reviews (check ins) for individual reps 2-4 times per year
  • Motivating and engaging sales reps
  • Hiring and onboarding new sales reps
  • Coaching individual sales reps one-on-one through phone work and prospecting help sessions
  • Managing use of sales software (e.g. Salesforce, Outreach, SalesNav)
  • Guiding, supporting, and providing discipline to underperforming sales reps. Developing and implementing a performance improvement plan when necessary.
  • Planning and presiding over regular sales team meetings
  • Uniting the team: ensuring reps work as a positive unit and share their best practices
  • Managing customers
  • Providing support on conversations with customers
  • Increasing size of sale for members of your team
  • Maintaining a deep understanding of customer needs and preferences
  • Resolving escalated customer issues or complaints
  • Providing expertise on pricing/discounting
  • Managing your business
  • Setting targets, performance plans, and rigorous standards for success
  • Developing sales strategies to acquire new customers or clients
  • Analyzing data: track sales metrics and share them with company leadership. Develop plans to address performance gaps
  • Projecting future performance / forecast
  • Collaborating with other departments


Qualifications

  • Excellent coaching skills: ability to observe, evaluate, and give meaningful feedback
  • Ability to build relationships with peers, cross-functional counterparts, and company executives
  • Empathy and an ability to understand other viewpoints. Aptitude for customer service
  • Ability to unite a team under a shared vision or goal, and set a good example for the team: work according to company culture and values.
  • Analytical skills: can create reports, analyze data, and communicate data-driven insights
  • Good judgement - especially when tasked with difficult decisions.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage their time
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting/exceeding goals as an individual contributor. Experience closing large deals.
  • Experience managing and coaching sellers with 0-5 years experience
  • Experience using a CRM to manage sales tasks, pipeline, activities
  • Experience building a territory from scratch 


Additional Information

The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $175,000 based on experience.
