Retail Store Manager

Shift: Monday through Friday with varying open/close patterns, along with off-site reporting on Sunday nights.


Job Summary: The Store Manager is responsible for providing strategic direction for the dispensary and maintaining day-to day-operations while ensuring best customer experience at all times. This includes managing all departments in the store setting to ensure work is completed in a thorough and timely manner. Because of all-encompassing scope of responsibilities, the Store Manager will be required know how and to perform all tasks of every position in the store.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage staff and build a cohesive team by treating employees with respect and compassion, fostering store culture, managing disciplinary action and giving recognition when appropriate and conducting performance reviews.
  • Maintain adequate staffing by identifying needs and performing all recruiting and interviewing, onboarding and training.
  • Responsible for scheduling staff and monthly employee meetings.
  • Address all customer concerns and monitor customer/patient feedback to improve customer experience.
  • Coordinate all store upkeep with relevant contractors to maintain aesthetic and meet requirements of compliance laws and regulations.
  • Perform inspections with relevant branches of police, fire departments and public health and train Assistant Managers to do the same.
  • On-call for all potential store issues or to aid in decision-making when required.
  • Complete weekly sales spreadsheets and track discounts, including employee-per-ticket averages and provide relevant store and sales information to executives.
  • Communicate weekly ATM balance and Garda change to accounting and perform all Garda change exchange orders as needed.
  • Collaborate with finance department to adhere to budget and forecast financial, inventory, and patient/customer trends.
  • Contribute to pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities, identifying strategic sales promotions, studying trends, and conducting local competitive analyses.
  • Maintain vendor relations and act as a liaison with community stakeholders.
  • Merge Good Chemistry brand, company mission and vision with industry best practices and communicate that message to a large audience.
  • Create and maintain product profiles and all menus and input transferred/manifested product and enter new product into system
  • Track advertisements in accordance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with communications department on feature menu content, sales promotions, outreach campaigns, and development of sales tools.
  • Ensure supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Complete tasks for any department or executive as needed.
  • Facilitate store-specific manager meetings and attend bi-weekly retail manager meetings.
  • Attendance at additional meetings outside of work hours may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements (Education and Experience)

  • College Degree preferred
  • Experience in the industry; store managers have generally been brought through the ranks of budtender, floor captain, department head, assistant manager, etc.
  • Previous management experience and proven success in increasing sales.
  • Experience with customer service in a high-volume retail sales environment.


Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Ability to work under pressure and use strong judgement.
  • Extensive product knowledge (including, but not limited to, extraction/infusion techniques, growing methods, genetics, Colorado MED and REC companies and the products they produce).
  • Colorado-specific compliance knowledge; METRC experience a huge plus.
  • Care for the plant we are growing and selling with a desire to help normalize marijuana and provide compassionate care to medical patients.
  • Ability to lead by example and motivate staff and maintain strong morale.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Detail-oriented, exceptional organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in necessary technologies (POS systems, menu systems, inventory tracking system, Google Drive, Apple OS) .
  • Strong interpersonal and mediation skills.
