Urbn Leaf, the new standard in cannabis dispensaries, is looking for a Retail Inventory Lead to join our team in La Mesa, CA!


Position Summary:        

Responsible for the day to day inventory management and receiving of product for high-volume retail and delivery cannabis outlet. Ensure proper inventory levels are maintained, care of perishable product is properly executed, FIFO process is being upheld, finished goods are received/stored properly, processed and made ready for sale in a timely manner. Ensures all cannabis products meet or exceed state and local compliance standards. Any items that do not meet or exceed compliance standards are to be rejected, logged for vendor credit and moved to Green Waste, or destroyed immediately.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee, schedule, train, and assign tasks to inventory team members (Budbacks).
  • Ensure proper care and First In, First Out (FIFO) rotation of all inventory for retail and delivery outlet.
  • Ensure all products are kept in their ideal state to preserve freshness and quality.
  • Ensure all technology platforms - inventory, ERP, METRC, POS - are updated with the most accurate product descriptions and on-hand inventory amounts.
  • Coordinate with procurement team and management team to ensure proper turnover of inventory to expedite the sale of expiring products.
  • Conduct monthly inventory audits and report any loss runs to General Manager and Headquarters.
  • Handle all receiving of items, returns, and exchanges with procurement and shipping teams.
  • Advise on upcoming “best by” dates for incoming inventory so items can be put on sale or exchanged with vendors prior to expiration.
  • Coordinate with managers for the destruction of expiring products as well as notify the procurement team.
  • Ensure all invoices, payables, and returns are properly coded and communicated to the Finance department, ensuring clear communication within the accounting ecosystem.
  • Account for all discrepancies within manifests and delivery, and report them to our executive teams and the BCC.
  • Responsible for receiving all products, checking in products (ERP and METRC), scanning manifests and COA’s; scanning invoices as needed.
  • Work closely with Compliance Director and team to ensure regulations are followed and address issues within 24 hours of occurrence.
  • Work with other company locations to troubleshoot issues with inventory audits and receiving as needed.
  • Ensure new products are ready for sale within 48 hours of receiving.
  • Meet with management team regularly to ensure proper follow-up on all action items.
  • Accountable for proper disposal of cannabis waste, both physically and systemically.
  • Manage and track all levels of inventory of the outlet(s) including cannabis, merchandise, shop supplies, promotional materials, and all other non-cannabis items.
  • Always ensure proper ambiance and cleanliness of inventory and secure storage areas.
  • Ensure the Urbn Leaf brand is always being properly represented.
  • Participate in the quarterly venue cleanings.
  • Abide by all policies and procedures of the company.
  • Walk the venue on a regular basis to ensure the facility is properly maintained and address and report any issues promptly to the facilities team.
  • Intimately understand state and local cannabis regulations to maintain compliance of the venue.
  • Inform employees of new products, and assist in the making of the displays for new products.
  • Account for all non-cannabis items.
  • Create/update logs for efficient systems within inventory.


Qualifications:

  • At least three years of inventory management experience in a high-volume environment, with knowledge of cannabis and cannabis products; or one year of inventory management in a high-volume cannabis retailer.
  • ERP system experience required. METRC experience preferred.
  • Must be able to input and access data in ERP system, METRC, delivery systems, and use technology devices.
  • Must be comfortable learning new skills.
  • Must have a hands-on, proactive management style.
  • Must be familiar with local and state cannabis laws, as well as BCC regulations.
  • Must be highly adaptable and comfortable with an environment that can change rapidly.

Education:

Must have one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university
  • Three years’ relevant experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience


Physical Demands/Requirements

The following are constant demands for this position:

  • Must be able to stand/walk for up to 6 hours at a time
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds safely and properly, as required
  • Ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work days, nights, holidays and weekends
  • Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds


Environmental Conditions

  • Occasionally small and/or enclosed spaces.
