Position Purpose:

  •  Design, deliver and communicate a comprehensive communications strategy that supports strategic corporate objectives and appropriately informs internal and external stakeholders
  • Effectively give voice to Centene’s story, crafting messages that highlight Centene’s mission, vision and values to key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the Communications Leadership Team to unlock talent potential by creating a culture of learning, performance, inclusion, health and giving back to the community. behaviors. Set an inspirational culture w/in which all talent can thrive.
  • Manage and influence matrixed teams across the organization to drive the strategy forward beyond department lines and through to local Health Plan teams
  • Remain forward-thinking, looking ahead for potential opportunities, trends, and threats that impact the organization’s brand and reputation.
  • Create measurement framework for communications outcomes. Implement data analysis systems to help track and expand audience, earned media, and engagements, and continuously shorten cycle time from data to insights to actions.
  • Oversee department budget and implement creative, cost-effective approaches to executing program deliverables; balance sourcing options (internal and external) for the most efficient use of resources.
  • Strengthen internal engagement across the organization, working with senior management to align strategic priorities with timely and transparent communication.
  • Develop a best-in-class internal communications strategy and capability.

Provide thought leadership and sound judgement regarding all aspects of Centene communications. Lead the development and execution of organizational communications strategies and manages the day-to-day operations of the communications department. Transform the operating model and infrastructure for the enterprise communications function.


Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or related field required; masters degree preferred. 12+ years communications experience and responsibility with executive scope. Experience leading change and with strategic agency partnerships, agency selection process, and scopes of work/fees.
