Regional Director

Glossier is looking for a Regional Director, Retail who is a highly organized, strategic and driven team player to support Glossier’s Retail locations. As a Regional Director, you will lead the Retail field teams to help motivate, inspire and drive Glossier’s fastest growing employee base. You will manage, coach and develop Store Directors. You facilitate ongoing development that is focused on building Store Director capabilities, and you actively manage the store leadership pipeline to ensure that succession plans are in place for each role and proactively recruit leaders for new stores. You create a dynamic and fun store environment where user generated content (UGC) and social media come to life. You will create an annual regional vision and strategy, quarterly sales plans and monitor and respond to results through the quarterly business review process. You are accountable for all aspects of regional store performance. You will manage your regional portfolio, focusing on investment in existing stores and future store pipeline strategy.  


Reporting directly to the SVP of Retail, the role will partner cross-functionally with the HR team, Retail Operations, Finance, Marketing and Technology. 


Responsibilities:

  • Celebrate and drive customer obsession and brand inspiration — be the living advocate of Glossier’s vision, values and brand ethos to the retail field
  • Drive and deliver business results against stated financial targets overall and by store, on daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Foster a regional conversation about the continual elevation of guest experience and coach your stores to prioritize guest and educator experience in everything they do
  • Work closely with your Store Directors and their teams; you are available and accessible for your team and you maintain a constant communication cadence
  • Develop the playbook for new store openings: team recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, staffing, execution
  • Manage and anticipate the needs of your people portfolio; you are responsible for your region’s talent planning and recruitment strategy
  • Demonstrate ability to learn, adapt, and refine playbook for rapid retail expansion to maximize business performance and store results
  • Implement leadership & development approach for ongoing performance management, career progression, employee retention and engagement for retail field
  • Utilize company tools and resources to coach on and document performance concerns with direct report team 
  • Implement performance evaluation process, management and implementation to ensure world-class performance across all values across and throughout the retail field
  • Partner with Retail Operations leadership to identify, prioritize, and implement productivity improvement opportunities to maximize profitability and performance, without sacrificing brand ethos or customer experience principles
  • Maximize contribution of store level leadership to drive company initiatives across brand / product / marketing / visual merchandising / etc.
  • Develop and implement localized store strategy and implementation that celebrates each store’s cultural location via experience, merchandise, marketing, events and others
  • Work with FP&A and Store Directors to proactively forecast planning for all store locations
  • Serve as a culture builder for a diverse and inclusive retail workforce that embodies Glossier’s values
  • Manage P&L, quarterly and yearly sales contributions
  • Approve team’s expense reports, manage your own expensing and budget 
  • Partner cross-functionally to define and execute retail strategy; serve as key voice and leader in the development of Glossier’s multi-year retail strategy from customer experience to real estate to business performance to execution
  • Stretch from strategic visionary to tactical / operational executor to ensure consistent and world-class standards at retail for both customers and employees


Qualifications 

  • Extensive experience through progressive management high volume / multi-unit Retail business
  • Minimum 6 year’s work experience in multi-store retail management and 5 years proven management experience of large or diverse groups
  • Critical and strategic thinking to create regional level plans to achieve regional goals
  • Financial and business acumen to drive profitability
  • Demonstrated experience of cross-divisional partnership and collaboration to lead in a matrixed environment
  • Proven experience in establishing vision and goals; developing strategic plans and leading cross-divisional teams in accomplishing key strategic initiatives
  • Ability to manage significant ambiguity with minimal support and direction
  • Ability to make difficult tradeoffs, balancing short- and long-term objectives in pursuit of business vision and goals
  • Demonstrated ability to employ outstanding communication practices that are ongoing, clear, and structured, promoting transparency, accountability, and understanding of performance and business expectations
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including managing a rigorous travel schedule
