Refining Operations Supervisor

Aylmer, ON

The Refining Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading the team of process technicians through the winterization, and distillation processes of Motif’s operation. This role will optimize day-to-day operation of sophisticated equipment while working closely with QA to ensure compliance with stringent regulations. 


Motif Labs is a licensed cannabis extraction facility located in SW Ontario. Motif operates as a business-to-business enterprise, offering toll processing and contract manufacturing services to Licensed Producers (LP's) and 3rd Party Brands. Motif is experiencing significant growth and we are seeking dynamic and professional individuals to join our team. Motif prides itself on Integrity, Collaboration and Quality, and these core values are at the center of everything we do. 

Position Overview: 

  • Participate in the hiring and onboarding process of new refining technicians 
  • Provide day to day supervision of tasks of the refining operations team  
  • Follow and actively reinforce refining processes as per SOPs 
  • Assist with executing and improving technician training protocols 
  • Assist with executing, maintaining and improving of all refining SOP 
  • Ensure maintenance and calibration of all equipment are completed as per defined schedule 
  • Troubleshoot operations where necessary 
  • Actively takes initiative to carry out CI project 
  • Provide production reports and identify areas of improvement 
  • Work closely with QA to ensure 100% compliance with QA requirements 
  • Other projects and duties as assigned 


Qualifications: 

  • Post secondary education in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology or Laboratory Technician studies is required 
  • Minimum of 5 years of production/manufacturing in DTC goods, or pharmaceutical experience required 
  • Knowledge of distillation, filtration and homogenization operations required 
  • 5 years experience with manufacturing operations management  
  • 2-3 years management or team lead experience  
  • Experience within Cannabis industry  
  • Individuals with a Health Canada security clearance will be given preference 
  • Positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills 
  • Commitment to safety and high-quality results 
  • Strong time management skills and possesses strong ability to multitask and prioritize based on business needs 
  • Shows initiative and ownership of work, strong attention to detail, willingness to learn and ability to problem solve in various situations 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. 
  • Required to pass a criminal background check 
  • Must be able to work various shift schedules as required 
  • Daily travel to facility in Aylmer, Ontario required (valid Driver’s License)
