Quality Specialist

Background & Purpose of the Job

Quality Specialist role is based in Hammond, IN factory producing Dove beauty bars. Quality Specialist role supports the implementation of Unilever specifications, standards, and Quality Management System (QMS) for quality assurance and controls in alignment with applicable regulatory requirements, including key participation in audits. This role will be responsible for ensuring supplier quality and standards are in place. This key Quality role ensures systems are in place to comply with local and international regulatory requirements and drives site Quality improvement activities to ensure product consumer safety & overall quality and address consumer / customer issues. The Quality Specialist will drive product superiority initiatives in the factory and increase the factory quality culture at the site.


Core Responsibilities

  • Works hand in hand with production and logistics to guide and troubleshoot issues related to quality on a day-to-day basis.
  • Develops knowledge of operations to act as a reference for other departments and develop a culture of quality driven mindset.
  • Drives internal audits and subsequent programs to ensure GMP compliance and procedures are followed throughout the site.
  • Participate / lead improvement projects, study WCM tools and apply them in practice in improvement projects. Participate in the HACCP program, develops measures to reduce risks and guarantee consumer safety in the unit. 
  • Maintains effective communications and appropriate working relationships with internal and external customers such as Supply Chain Planning, Purchasing, Development, R&D and others as applicable.
  • Supports manufacturing incident investigations and tracks issues using SAP. Ensures supplier quality and handles issuing E-incidents and investigations for off-quality material.
  • Maintains Laboratory testing equipment schedule and quality related digital solutions, including scheduling of calibrations for laboratory equipment.
  • Drives product superiority agenda and any corporate quality projects, including ensuring compliance to CRQS standards.


What You’ll Need to Succeed

ESSENTIAL:

  • University degree in technical discipline or general sciences
  • Preferred: Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Food Science or Microbiology degree


PREFERRED / DESIRABLE:

Manufacturing and/or Quality Experience


Pay: The pay range for this position is 67,000.00 - $117,200. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.


Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.


Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
