Quality Assurance Engineer

About the Role: Papa is seeking an entry level or early career quality assurance engineer to join our international engineering team. We're spread out all across the US, Brazil, and the Philippines. You'll join a fast-paced team that has the personal freedom and safety to execute with the directive: "Do what's best for the company". You will play a central role in ensuring our system can handle hundreds of thousands of Papa visits daily via our mobile applications and internal admin tools. Excellent communication skills are required because we are all fully-remote.


The individual in this position is responsible for:

  • Verifying the expectations of our stakeholders and end users are met.
  • Reviewing functional specifications, business requirements, personas, and use cases to create test cases and test plans with guidance from senior test engineers.
  • Running manual tests and documenting results in order to increase confidence in our applications.
  • Identifying and documenting defects including steps to reproduce, expected behavior, and actual observed behavior.
  • Working with the team and senior test engineers to assess risk and prioritize testing.
  • Participating in team ceremonies such as standup, sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives.


 Requirements:

  • Experience testing or using mobile devices and applications, websites, or internal tooling.
  • Some experience writing tests, user stories, or other technical documentation. Coursework counts!
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Drive to learn new technology and skills.
  • Experience working remotely. It’s not for everyone, and we need someone who has the personal responsibility to properly manage their energy and commitment.


Preferred:

  • Experience writing and presenting test plans.
  • Experience with manual or automated testing.
  • Ability to read and understand code.
