QA Lead

El Segundo, CA

We are seeking a Quality Assurance professional responsible for creating and executing test plans across our many home-grown applications and integrations. The ideal candidate will guide testing efforts according to established standards and best practices. You will be working with members of our project teams, including project managers, developers, and application support, to ensure projects are thoroughly tested.

Major Job Objectives and Responsibilities:

  • Create test plans that exercise business use cases and maximize code coverage
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to fully understand use cases
  • Execute test plans, document outcome, and iteratively improve them
  • Working with development team to analyze defects and agree on a resolution plan
  • Identification and resolution of production defects
  • Deploy automated processes to execute validated test plans
  • Coordinate with technical team to validate code releases into production environment
  • Coordinate performance testing as needed
  • Contribution to training and operating documentation

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ experience authoring and executing test plans
  • Good understanding of modern QA methodologies, tools and processes
  • Familiarity with JIRA for defect reporting and resolution
  • Strong analytical skills, especially in isolation of patterns
  • Experience using selenium or similar automation framework for testing
  • Experience using jMeter or similar performance testing tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Transact SQL/MS SQL Server
  • Helpful to be able to read .NET code
  • Familiarity with RESTFul API, including HTTP calls and JSON, to support testing as necessary

Times staff is currently working remotely, but when we return to the newsroom this position will be based in El Segundo, Calif.
