QA Lead

Gainesville, FL

With oversight from the QA Manager the QA Lead supports the Quality Assurance team and is responsible for the daily execution of all medical and/or adult use cannabis quality processes as assigned for the operation. The incumbent will work within company standards and the applicable state regulations.  


Duties and Responsibilities  

  • With minimal supervision, monitors processes for pre-formulation and finished goods at each stage of product manufacturing operations to ensure adherence to company and state regulations; escalating any potential quality issue to the Analyst and/or Quality Team management immediately.
  • Performs product tracking, product security, and product movement procedures. 
  • Writes, implements, and provides training on SOPs for new procedures, critical equipment and processes and/or controls. 
  • Maintains all training documentation for the site. 
  • With minimal supervision, assists in the management of the SOP, investigation, deviation, and CAPA systems. 
  • Performs internal audits of site and manufacturing floor operations per SOP procedures.
  • Reviews and approves batch records and performs batch reconciliation. 
  • Performs raw materials checks and any associated release or quarantine. 
  • Performs in-process and finished product checks and any associated release or quarantine.
  • Assists in the management of third-party testing of in-process and/or finished products. 
  • Manages the complaint log for finished products. 
  • Responsible for batch reconciliations.
  • Performs line clearance procedures prior to production start-up and completion and releases lines to Manufacturing or works with Manufacturing to resolve any outstanding line clearance issues.
  • Assists manufacturing in the equipment cleaning procedures prior to production start-up and completion. Maintains cleaning validation instrumentation, and its calibration, and supplies and associate database and identifies testing trends.
  • Performs or assists in other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications 

  • Must meet the age requirement as outlined by state cannabis agencies  
  • Able to pass all background checks/fingerprinting as required by state cannabis agencies  
  • Able to provide valid badging/credentials as required by state cannabis agencies  


Education  

  • High School required, plus 5 years related work experience or Associate’s degree, plus three years related work experience.


Experience  

  • 1-3 years’ Experience having worked in a cannabis and/or manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

Working conditions 

  • This person may be exposed to dust, kief, cleaning chemicals, and fumes. Although systems are in place to remove these byproducts, there is still exposure to some degree. This person will be travelling between dispensaries and manufacturing facilities within AYR Wellness.  


Physical requirements  

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and safely lift up to 25lbs 
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time (i.e. gloves, lab coat, hair net) 
  • Appropriate grooming for work environment (no jewelry, hair must be tied back, no hair outside of PPE)
