Project Manager, Content Communications

San Mateo, CA

This position will be responsible for generating informative and entertaining public-facing communications for YouTube, Twitch, PlayStation.Blog, SIE.com, social media channels and emerging digital channels.


This role will work with internal and external partners across global and local functions to publish videogame and entertainment-related content, then measure the results and integrate key findings and insights into future content plans. Role will also serve as content and editorial support for PlayStation.Blog, SIE.com, YouTube, and SIE digital communication channels.


Responsibilities:

  • Build and own processes for sophisticated video- and text-based projects intended for various communication platforms. This includes production of livestreamed videos, VOD content, vertical slices of gameplay, PS Blog articles, and so on.
  • Create, present, localize, and revise briefing materials for internal/external partners.
  • Own and run deliverable trackers to keep projects on track and within intended scope and cost.
  • Lead robust localization efforts for text and video content, and constantly scan for new ways to support regional markets as well as business priorities within the wider global operation.
  • Leverage in-depth knowledge of videogames and gaming culture to develop effective and engaging communication-focused content across multiple channels, in a variety of formats from video to audio to written.
  • Conceptualize new video programming, and lead it from intial stage to production and publish, analyzing metrics and integrating findings.
  • Maintain deep relationships with internal/external partners in order to develop compelling content for PlayStation’s communication channels
  • Fill in for other social media roles and content/editorial support as needed.

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Education: BS preferred -- ideally in related fields such as PR/Communication, Marketing, or Film 
  • 5-7 years experience in professional gaming content creation or video production. Experience ideally involves collaborating with Communication professionals and leading projects from beginning to end; exceptions may apply for those with strong portfolios.
  • Exceptional time management and communication skills, with the ability to rapidly adapt to changing needs of a given project, as well as juggling multiple projects.
  • Experience leading projects from a well-rounded perspective, while still keeping track of multiple fine details that can significantly affect the final product.
  • Ideal candidates will have examples of previously led events or projects that involve multiple collaborators across varying fields.
  • Strong eye for visual storytelling, and ability to envision and communicate ways to improve social, video, and written content.
  • Basic-level Photoshop editing skills, Premiere video editing / gif creation, and related basic multimedia skills are required.
  • Extensive experience creating compelling video game content, particularly short-form content and longer in-depth writing. Unique or specialized content experience (podcasting, hosting, video creation, design, production etc) is also welcome.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism in a corporate environment is a requirement.
  • Content guide with strong opinions about standard processes in modern content creation. You’ll need a passion for games, an interest in gaming news and current events, and a love of storytelling.
  • Experience working a high-traffic website, traditional media outlet, or agency is useful, as the position will deliver content and maintain tight deadlines.
  • Experience handling multiple languages for localizing scripts, SRTs, articles, emails and so on (does not have to be fluent in other languages, though it’s a plus!).
  • Intensely proactive and always seeking optimizations for processes, and a vision for how existing processes and projects could expand to international markets.
