Project Engineer

Quaker Foods and Snacks has an opening at the Columbia, MO Manufacturing Site in the Technical group for a Project Engineer.


As part of the Technical Team, this individual will be responsible for providing engineering leadership to ensure execution excellence of assigned capital projects in support of the Site's safety, quality, service, and cost objectives.


Key Accountabilities:

• Identify the best technical solutions and the technical risks prior to project commitment

• Apply sound engineering principles to the design of these projects

• Write CAR documents required to support investment requests

• Utilize EM methodology to coordinate and schedule project installation with manufacturing, maintenance, and sanitation to minimize disruptions to normal plant operations

• Manage the efforts of selected outside consultants, contractors, and vendors to effectively and efficiently design or install the various components of the projects

• Maintain project documentation to ensure compliance with engineering and financial guidelines

• Provide technical leadership on specific site initiatives as requested by the Engineering Manager

• Support other Resources in executing site-wide programs

• Provide technical support to operations to improve plant processes


Qualifications/Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred

• Flexible - willingness to work off shifts and weekends

• 1-5+ years’ experience of project engineering or equivalent

• Experience in maintenance systems and processes preferred

• Strong computer and analytical skills

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred

• Strong influencing and communication skills


Physical Requirements:

• Frequent standing and walking

• Sitting occasionally to frequent

• Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally

• Must be able to see (depth perception, near acuity and far acuity) and hear

• Must be able to maneuver safely around moving equipment and/or in congested manufacturing areas

• Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures (hot and/or cold depending upon season and plant location)

• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including safety glasses, ear plugs/muffs, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves/boots, etc.

• Exposed to various packaging materials, raw ingredients, seasonings, cleaning chemicals, lubricants, etc.
