Production Supervisor

The Butler Bulk Corrugating Department Supervisor has responsibility for overseeing all 2nd shift production employees in the areas of safety, productivity, quality, inventory, and housekeeping. In addition, they will work to lead and motivate employees to work efficiently and effectively, ensuring a safe work environment and a quality product.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise machine centers and provide leadership for the production team in the areas of safety, process reliability, administering plant policies, housekeeping, waste control, productivity improvement, cost effectiveness, and people system.
  • Ensuring compliance of all quality checks; coordinate upkeep of machinery with Maintenance team and/or other members of management to minimize downtime; assist in troubleshooting machine problems.
  • Ensuring accuracy of production counts and inventory levels.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Promote continuous improvement and reliable methods within the organization
  • Establishing high morale within your department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in addressing/resolving employee problems.
  • Overseeing the training of employees, planning and assigning work.
  • Reporting to the Site Manager any issues that might affect overall production or plant operations.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Supervisory experience of 3+ years is required.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs are required.

 

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • College and/or technical coursework
  • Supervisory experience of 3+ years in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience in the corrugating packaging industry is highly preferred

 

The successful candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities should include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Knowledge of industry standards for production, food safety, waste, and AIB/SQF housekeeping.
  • Skill in planning, scheduling, prioritizing, and coordinating work within assigned area.
  • Skill in providing leadership, direction, and supervision of production associates.
  • Skill in communicating effectively with staff, management, and external organizations.
  • Skill in negotiation, influencing others, and conflict resolution.
  • Skill with facilitating problem solving and process improvement activities.
