The Product Development Technician is responsible for supporting the development and launch of new products and product enhancements within the organization.


This role involves conducting market research, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and managing product development projects to ensure the successful delivery of innovative and marketable products. 


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • R&D Unit Production: Perform small-scale infusions and build out research units to facilitate sensory evaluations.
  • R&D Administration: Utilize Microsoft Business Central to push all production through track-and-trace system, maintain an accurate R&D inventory, update the Asana project management tool in real-time, and maintain an up-to-date library of R&D waivers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Compliance, marketing, operations, and sales, to ensure alignment and integration of product development efforts.
  • Prototype Development: Coordinate the development of product prototypes and samples, including conducting product testing and gathering feedback for iteration and improvement.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards throughout the product development process, including product safety, quality, and labeling requirements.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of product development activities, including project plans, specifications, test results, and regulatory filings.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve product development processes and practices to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation.
  • General Production: Coordinate with the Production Supervisor to assist in regular production when not preoccupied with Product Development duties.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • At least 21 years old per state law.
  • General knowledge of cannabis manufacturing intricacies (general components of a product, general process for manufacturing, etc.) across a wide range of products.
  • Proficient in cannabis assessment - know quality, identify flavor profiles.
  • Thorough knowledge of different Cannabinoids and Terpenes.
  • Working understanding of algebra with the ability to convert between different types of units using formulas.
  • Working understanding of MS Excel, Microsoft Dynamics, Asana.
  • Possesses a strong collaborative spirit and be comfortable working as part of a team.
  • Possesses strong organizational skills.


Education and Experience:

  • HS diploma or GED.
  • Ganjier or Cannabis Sommelier Certification preferred.
  • 1+ years' experience within a R&D or similar role preferred.
  • 1-2 years in the cannabis industry in a production, product development, or education-based role.
