The Product Analyst plays a vital role in our annual benefit planning and bid submission process for Medicare Advantage plans. This is an entry level position designed for high-achieving recent college graduates looking to kick-start their careers at UnitedHealth Group. As such, Product Analysts are embedded at the center of the nation’s leading Medicare Advantage organization. By working cross-functionally throughout the year with other teams such as Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance, Marketing, Benefit Operations, and Membership Materials, analysts are exposed to multiple divisions where they must apply their critical knowledge. Product Analyst work drives many key business functions and is has high visibility among top executives. The Product Analyst role provides excellent growth opportunity within the Medicare & Retirement organization as the knowledge and skills obtained from the position are greatly sought-after.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support Medicare & Retirement Medicare Advantage product management to ensure the successful implementation of strategic and tactical business solutions
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing product changes by providing data analysis and reporting (new, routine, and ad hoc reports and analyses)
  • Collect, analyze, and present in-depth information on local and national Medicare Advantage competition
  • Plan, organize, and manage work to continuously improve the benefit design and filing process
  • Work with Product Management in providing product content for marketing, sales, member relations, communications, and training
  • Ensure data integrity among various internal groups and/or between internal and external sources for assigned product segments
  • Support short-term operational activities
  • Assist in facilitating the delivery of cross-functional special projects or initiatives in a matrix organization

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher)
  • 2+ years of experience as a Business Analyst facilitating and documenting requirements gathered from both business and IT/development counterparts
  • Experience working in an Agile environment with experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Experience visually communicating business problems and flows – for example with Microsoft Visio (ability to create workflow diagrams) or Microsoft Powerpoint (ability to create, edit, copy, send and save presentations)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using data to identify product opportunities as well as support hypotheses to define and communicate business cases for new roadmap initiatives
  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically
  • Experience building consumer-facing products
  • Experience using JIRA or similar tools

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent multitasking and problem-solving abilities
  • Exceptional time-management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including creating requirements document for senior and development audiences

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $25.63 to $45.72. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $28.27 to $50.29. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
