Principal UX Designer

What you will achieve

The Sabre User Experience team creates compelling, consistent, and highly usable experiences for the travel industry. We approach our projects with high standards, utilizing best practices to deliver consumer-grade user experiences. 


Our Principal UX designers work on a strategic level, directing the vision of a product while guiding projects to incorporate UX best practices, EDL standards, and outstanding design quality. They also have deep knowledge in their field of expertise, acting as subject matter experts to mentor, train, or assist other designers. 


Sabre's Principal UX Designers are also thought/design leaders, consulting with business owners about new features and business cases. They have a broader sphere of engagement and influence in Sabre, working with internal business teams on client requirements and solutions within our enterprise project lifecycle (PLC). Your contributions will play a critical role in the company's overall success.

 

What you will do:

  • Guide and assist the innovation team with their concepts to produce engaging prototypes and presentations for internal/external groups and conferences.
  • Work in an environment where requirements are not always defined and developed, which need shaping through research, discovery, and rapid experimentation.
  • Directly engage customers to understand both their needs and domain challenges.
  • Architect the vision and future state of the products in our portfolio with solution managers, business analysts, and development teams.
  • Partner with development on the technical aspects and overall execution of your designs, guiding them on successfully integrating our enterprise design library in their work.
  • Collaborate with solution managers on user goals and requirements.
  • Conduct research to understand your project's product, user, business need, and market opportunities.
  • Work with designers to produce interactive prototypes that align with project requirements and internal best practices. 
  • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency of different user experience tools and techniques.
  • Create initial design concepts that achieve user goals and business objectives.
  • Learn, integrate and leverage our enterprise design library, aligning your project work with Sabre's design standards for usability, accessibility, and functionality. 
  • Participate in ongoing user research and usability test evaluations. 
  • Work on complex products/features individually or as part of a larger team.  Teach/lead others and interact extensively with product and development in project planning. 

 

The successful candidate will have

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 

  • 13+ years of related management, design, and leadership experience 
  • Experience with leading design teams and deep knowledge of UX-related topics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design thinking principles and methodologies in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with designing and developing across multiple form factors (mobile, tablet, and desktop)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the use of Sketch and InVision in previous projects
  • Front-end coding experience is a plus.
  • Experience participating in user research and usability testing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Industry certifications and academic achievements in UX, HCI, and Usability are preferred.
  • Project management skills and experience are a plus
