Role and Responsibilities
Samsung Electronics America is seeking a qualified Principal Legal Counsel that will work in a multidisciplinary team environment to direct complex IP disputes, primarily patent disputes in International Trade Commission (ITC), US District Courts, and PTAB
- Counsel diverse internal clients in all aspects of IP litigation
- Manage outside counsel in complex IP disputes
- Monitor and analyze current IP policy proposals to develop and execute IP policy strategy
- Represent the company within advocacy organizations, in meetings before Congress and Administrative agencies, and at public conferences and events
Skills and Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree with 7+ years of relevant experience at a top-tier law firm
- Substantive experience litigating patent disputes in ITC, US District Courts, and PTAB
- Experience interacting with Customs & Border Protection relating to the administration of ITC exclusion orders
- Experience in outreach efforts (e.g., explaining highly detailed legal issues) to the US Congress and/or US Administrative Agencies highly preferred, but not required
- Ability to translate complex IP policy issues into manageable concepts which diverse audiences can understand and process
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a cross-cultural team across the globe
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and/or Science
- Experience within the International Trade Commission is highly preferred
- Experience in outreach efforts (e.g., explaining highly detailed legal issues) to the US Congress and/or US Administrative Agencies highly preferred
- Korean language ability a plus, but not required
