Plant IT Manager

The Plant IT Manager for Dearborn Truck Plant – (DTP) and Rouge Electric Vehicle Center (REVC) Plants is responsible for all IT services at the plants, including the planning, implementation and support of all IT systems and physical infrastructure. DTP runs 24X7 (A, and B crews) producing F150 trucks. This position is a demanding, highly visible position that requires strong leadership and technical skills, and off-hour, weekend, and holiday work.

The DTP/REVC Plant IT manager supervises a team of 7 GSRs/8 agency people and provides site-specific direction to the onsite Tech Lounge Guru. Summer Interns and FCGs are often a part of the team as well. This position reports directly to Gail Echols, Americas Plant IT Operations Manager and also has a dotted line report to the Dearborn Truck Plant Manager. The DTP/REVC Plant IT Manager is expected to interact directly with business partners at all levels, including both Hourly and Salaried employees, Local UAW Leadership, Vendors and others, including Plant Management and Manufacturing Directors as required. 


What you’ll be able to do:

  • “Run and Protect” all IT services at the site, including networks, servers, PCs, and applications
  • Escalate issues as appropriate to global support teams, and provide on-site to those teams as required
  • Balance business needs, such as 24x7 operations, with IT priorities, such as deployment of critical patches
  • Support major business and IT initiatives such as New Model launches and infrastructure upgrades
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with site business partners, acting as the “face of IT”
  • Contribute to site’s OCM’s efforts, as appropriate
  • Keep abreast of evolving business and IT policy changes, such as security policies, to keep site in compliance and prepared for audits
  • Participate in forums such as Roundtable discussions with other Site Management (SM) colleagues to learn and share SM concerns, and contribute to process improvement recommendations, initiative prioritization, budget and resource decisions
  • Keep IT leadership apprised of issues, business concerns, and other significant events
  • Supervise a site operations team, including GSR, FCG, Summer Intern, or agency resources. Team size depends on site complexity and operating schedule.
  • Manage development of self and team, including technical and leadership skill development Manage site within budget and resource constraints


The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 5+ years of technical experience in the areas of: networks, PCs, servers, and relevant applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management with varying areas of IT, business, vendors, and union-represented resources Possess strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating professionalism in all actions
