Photo Editor

Bustle Digital Group is seeking a Photo Editor. 


The Photo Editor is responsible for conducting day to day picture research and assisting with all aspects of production on original photo shoots across all of Bustle Digital Group’s digital platforms. The position supports editors by creatively selecting imagery that illustrates stories in clever, unexpected, and impactful ways, in keeping with BDG's voice. This position reports to the Photo Director.


Responsibilities

  • Work with editors in selecting images to accompany their stories, choosing photography within your artistic judgment and discretion across the BDG portfolio.
  • The role involves researching, selecting, cropping, retouching and uploading images to the various websites.  
  • Ensure images are properly licensed; negotiate and handle license agreements with photo agencies.
  • Work collaboratively with editorial teams on special projects.
  • Coordinate retouching needs, delivery of images, and deadlines with artists
  • Work with photographers, agencies, vendors, and the company’s licensing and business departments to create budgets, expedite contracts, and manage invoices in a timely manner.
  • Additional ad-hoc projects


Who You Are

  • 2-3 years of professional experience around visual content for media/brands
  • Interest and passion for photography
  • Familiarity with photo and design applications
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and multi-task while meeting tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and confidence working on multiple projects with tight deadlines
