Payroll Supervisor

Clearwater, FL

The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for supervising the Payroll operations including hiring, reviewing and training payroll staff; as well as reviewing department procedures, workload management and accurately processing payroll.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of company multi-state payroll
  • Trains and developsassociates, including day-to-day supervision, assigning workloads, arranging work schedules to ensure adequate coverage is maintained in the office, monitor and submit attendance entries for Payroll, monitoring staff performance levels and conducting performance evaluations in conjunction with the Director of Total Rewards
  • Ensure payroll information is reflected accurately in the system of record for associates and documented accordingly
  • Resolves complex associate issues and concerns as escalated from staff members
  • Suggests methods to improve processes and increase efficiency 
  • Provides support Enterprise wide regarding payroll issues
  • Ensure internal and external compliance within payroll function including but not limited to state, local and federal taxes, internal audit, SOX compliance etc.
  • Oversee year end close and w-2 process
  • Partnership with other departments that impact payroll compliance and process (including AP, Finance and Accounting)
  • Perform research and provide ad hoc reporting as it relates to payroll.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 4 – 6 years payroll experience with working knowledge of payroll, wage and tax laws and regulations required
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills required
  • Ability to work under time constraints and meet schedules
  • Ability to multi task – interacting with outside agencies, clients and staff members simultaneously
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and make decisions
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficient in Windows PC environment with accurate data entry/keyboarding skills
  • Experienced processing multi-state payroll, wage and tax laws and regulations required
  • Supervisory experience helpful
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for up to 8 hours a day; ability to use hands and fingers to type on a keyboard and use a mouse to navigate. Vision sufficient to view small details on a computer monitor.
  • Ability to stand and walk up to 8 hours a day; ability to stoop, bend and lift boxes weighing up to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to hear and verbally communicate using a telephone handset and/or connected headset device.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regular business hours. Some additional hours may be required.
  • Travel requirements: Negligible
  • Climate-controlled office environment during normal business hours.
