Payroll Analyst

Remote (United States)

Under the direction of the Senior Payroll Managers coordinate and participate in technical payroll accounting activities, participate in the preparation, maintenance, processing, analysis, and auditing of manual and automated payroll data, information, records, and reports; ensure accuracy and completeness of payroll transactions both domestically and Global. Own tax registration and ticket completeness with third party vendor. Prepare and assist in Payroll GL Reconciliations. Assist in project management.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely production of the payroll function; oversee and participate in review, verification, audit and processing of payroll records and reports.
  • Research, evaluate and ensure that payroll. Issues and discrepancies are resolved in proper and timely manner; maintain, review and update tax set up in Workday HRIS system. 
  • Review tax notices/correspondences from taxing jurisdictions; Initiate, Develop and manages vendor relationships.
  • Process and evaluate payroll deduction for State and local tax; work with employees, external agencies and representatives of state and local authorities processing relevant transactions in accordance with the IRS rules and regulations.
  • Review and assist in payroll GL tax, PTO etc. reconciliations; performs flux analysis.
  • Prepare Payroll Journal Entries and perform payroll account reconciliations.
  • Participates in payroll year end processing, W2, W2c’s processing.
  • Ability to complete assignments independently and to make decisions and devise work products or plans.
  • Ensures compliance with governmental laws on payroll accounting and taxes. Ensures payroll processing is in compliance and following federal, State, Local laws.
  • Other assignments as they present themselves.


Knowledge of

  • Principal and practices of payroll administration
  • Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Tax withholding, Voluntary deductions, employee benefits
  • ESPP, RSU vesting, ISO option exercises.
  • Preparation, Maintenance, verification, auditing and processing of payroll records and reports
  • Reconciliations, Journal entries, Payroll Tax accounting
  • Project knowledge in verification and testing.
  • Workday Preferred; working payroll systems. Oracle Finance


Qualifications

  • 3+ years payroll processing experience 
  • 3+ years payroll tax
  • Mid-size company or above
  • Proficient in excel
  • Analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
