Paralegal

Miami, FL

Perry Ellis International, a fashion and lifestyle company, seeks an exceptional Paralegal to provide first-rate legal service and support, primarily relating to managing a trademark portfolio for the legal department. The successful candidate will help build proper administrative processes for the department and independently manages many core legal functions. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Organizes and maintains the corporate books of Perry Ellis International entities
  • Assisting attorneys in preparation of documentation for U.S. office action responses and/or oppositions
  • Advises regarding document management and record retention practices
  • Oversees outside counsel’s handling of litigation matters
  • Under supervision of General Counsel, conducts legal research
  • Gathering evidence and related materials 
  • Under supervision of General Counsel, drafts and reviews non-disclosure agreements and other contracts
  • Monitors and manages outside counsel spend and other department expenses
  • Monitor trademark infringement using CSC 
  • Preparation of biweekly, quarterly, six month and annual computer docket/status reports
  • Review, code and approval of invoices 
  • Draft simple agreements such as NDAs, customs letters/trademark authorization letters, etc
  • Liaison with internal business clients concerning the foregoing 
  • Handle special projects as necessary 


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES 

  • Basic understanding of legal entities and corporate governance requirements 
  • Ability to read, interpret and edit contract language 
  • Excellent verbal and written skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; exceptional organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines 
  • Excellent problem solving skills 
  • Ability to operate with high degree of confidentiality and discretion 
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with associates at all levels of the organization and to represent the legal department in a variety of settings 
  • Flexibility to adapt to different situations and accommodate the diverse needs of the business 
  • Tech-savvy individual, with advanced experience in all Google Docs, Google Drive, Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), PDFs, WorkShare Compare, scanning, etc. 


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  • 5+ years experience at a law firm or in-house legal department; fashion industry experience a plus 
  • Associate’s degree or paralegal certificate required 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
