The position involves actively contributing to the formulation of Canoo's exterior brand strategy in collaboration with the Canoo Design Team's leadership. It requires transforming conceptual sketches into 3D designs, infusing creativity while considering market and competition dynamics.


The role plays a key part in translating production and concept discussions into actionable plans for automotive projects. Effective documentation and meticulous note-taking are essential to ensure seamless communication and project updates across geographically dispersed teams. 


Responsibilities (80s of the Position) 

  • Create compelling and clever design proposals for various concept and production projects in form of sketches, renderings and 3D digital models.
  • Meet with Management, Engineering, Marketing, Brand and Design team to discuss design criteria provided.
  • Support ongoing projects for new models, and general infotainment interface design improvements for existing models.
  • Document all requests from C Suite executives directly, then action taken and communicate clear and effective notes back to Torrance Design.
  • Oversee the development of models by Clay and CAS sculptors and fabricators.
  • Create high quality presentation images for Press Releases and Design Manuals using Photoshop, ALIAS, Blender, Vred, keyshot and VR presentations.


Required Experience 

  • Bachelor's Degree in transportation Design, Industrial design.
  • Knowledge in automotive software, Alias, Photoshop, Blender, Keyshot, Unreal, VR software, Word processing and email software.
  • Demonstrate a true understanding of the subtleties of 3D surface and translation of a 2D sketch into reality.
  • Self-starter that can execute with minimal input from management.
  • Passion for automotive design/automotive exterior design.
  • Professional, motivated and pro-active working attitude.
  • Ability to travel and ability to show passion and dedication to learn and integrate into a modern flexible work schedule.
