Molecular Biologist

Moncton, NB

We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Molecular Biologist.


Reporting to the QA Laboratory Manager, the ideal candidate will be a motivated individual with experience in both molecular biological and microbiological testing environments who works well with others, displays strong attention to detail. They must have excellent organizational skills and can maintain a positive, professional attitude in a fast paced and changing work environment. The role of Molecular biologist will be the primary technical contact for PCR and Micro sampling and testing within the QC Lab. They will be responsible for organizing and maintaining a regular flow of product and environmental monitoring samples, as well as working with other groups on special projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Molecular biological testing using qPCR methods for a variety of sample types;
  • Prepare and analyze environmental, input and product samples using various microbe enumeration methods;
  • Schedule and manage environmental monitoring through air sampling, surface swabbing, etc.;
  • Develop and validate all cannabis and environmental testing methods with addition of methods based on business needs;
  • Create task record, SOP’s related to testing activities, etc.;
  • Maintain lab supplies inventory;
  • Analyze and monitor data trends; identify and help facilitate changes to achieve specifications and targets and seek to understand root cause of unfavorable results and offer solutions to improve;
  • Participate in internal facility inspections and/or third-party audits;
  • Lead various continuous improvement projects designed to reduce microbial load ;
  • Other duties as assigned to pivot with business needs.


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher with an emphasis on molecular biology;
  • Previous experience in molecular biology lab, particularly with PCR methods;
  • Previous experience with traditional microbiology techniques;
  • Strong understanding of aseptic technique in the laboratory;
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail;
  • Proficiency with data entry and computer applications;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Able to work effectively within all levels of the organization.
