Marketing Manager

Emeryville, CA

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Product Marketing & Insights, the Marketing Manager, Innovation plays a critical role in launching new products and beverage platforms that will modernize our offerings, attract new consumers, and grow our brand equity. The Marketing Manager’s primary responsibility will be to bring new products to market that delight coffee lovers and drive incremental sales. They will be instrumental is building out our 3 year strategic product pipeline across channels, with an initial focus on theRetail Coffeebar and Away-From-Home channels.


The Marketing Manager will partner closely with R&D, bringing forward consumer insights and ensuring innovation delivers against key consumer needs, aligns with Peet’s brand strategy and takes advantage of category growth opportunities.  They will also collaborate with Channel Marketing, Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Store Operations & Training to commercialize new items. 

 

Must live in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is a full-time, exempt level role.


What You Will Do

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Co-develop a consumer-led Strategic Product Pipeline for Peet’s Coffeebars, including beverage line extensions, new beverage platforms and seasonal programs.
  • Partner with R&D to bring great-tasting, high quality platforms to life that align with the Peet’s brand positioning, meet consumer needs and achieve financial objectives for sales, gross margin and profitability.
  • Partner with Consumer Insights to develop and test product concepts, positioning, claims, packaging, and product names. Partner on consumer sensory research.
  • Bring a test and learn mindset to drive omnichannel growth. Leverage Peet’s owned sales channels to test new product concepts and leverage those learnings to scale the launch for CPG.
  • Day-to-day project management: Create and manage all project timelines. Run weekly cross-functional meetings and constantly collaborate with cross-functional partners including Brand Design, Channel Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, R&D, Store Operations & Training, Insights.
  • Stay up to date on coffee category trends and competitive new product launches.


Who You Are

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of Marketing experience in CPG or Retail, with experience in product marketing.
  • Must have product development experience and past partnerships with R&D.
  • Experience at a consumer-driven company required; food or beverage experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Experience turning consumer insights into actionable new product or marketing executions.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to navigate ambiguity. Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration and leadership.
  • Entrepreneurial, can-do mindset and strong drive for results.
  • Solid strategic, analytical, and critical thinking skills with proven expertise in problem solving.
  • Results oriented, energetic, flexible and collaborative, comfortable forging new paths and anticipating future needs at a fast pace.
  • Earns credibility and commands the attention of others by effectively communicating verbally and in writing, strong presentation skills.
  • Solid understanding of product P&Ls
  • Proficiency with using and interpreting syndicated data (IRI or Nielsen) is a plus.


Peet’s Home Office is a Hybrid worksite, which requires any Home Office employees to work onsite 3 days per week with the exception of any fully-remote role.
