Marketing Director

San Diego, CA

The Director of Marketing - Retail is responsible for overseeing a comprehensive and integrated, omni-channel, experimental marketing strategy and implementation across owned and earned channels from retail locations to consumer e-commerce in California. This role will forge strong cross functional relationships and leverage data-driven insights to positively impact the consumer and customer journey at all touch points to drive company-wide revenue growth. The Director of Marketing-Retail is skilled at leveraging the analytical and creative aspects of consumer-centric marketing.


This position is based in Los Angeles or San Diego, CA. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with the Retail and Procurement teams on customer-driven campaigns, lead generation, and the delivery of engaging store activity, store collaterals and content to drive growth.
  • Oversees the design and delivery of integrated marketing campaigns and promotions across channels to drive B2B and B2C customer acquisition, education, and retention.
  • Strategically monitors marketing spend to maximize ROI, contributes to the planning and development of marketing budgets and forecasts, and shares responsibility to build and optimize brand P&L’s.
  • Leads retail events marketing efforts, working cross-functionally on planning and execution with through thread to targeted promotions.
  • Drives in-store, online and delivery sales through retail initiatives for all retail locations.
  • Serves as the customer experience leader and works cross-functionally to develop StateHouse’s customer-facing interactions.
  • Organizes and mines customer data and market research for insights into consumer needs and behaviors to fuel innovation and growth.
  • Manages our retail brand’s marketing strategy and positioning to enhance the brand identities, drive positive brand image, and promote brand presence and preference.
  • Oversees the design and delivery of a comprehensive and ongoing communications, media, partnership marketing, with cohesive messaging and compelling narrative across channels.
  • Leverages consumer insights on buying behaviors and preferences to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Develops strong partnerships and collaborates with third-party brands to generate excitement, promotional cadence and sell-thru.
  • Other duties as assigned.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constantly: Walking, sitting at a desk, grasping/gripping, bending/stooping/squatting, finger dexterity, computer input, coordination of hand and eye. 
  • Frequently: Standing for long periods of time, climbing stairs, and twisting.
  • Occasionally: Reaching above shoulder height, lifting 20-30 lbs., ability to do push/pull motions.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree required; major or advanced degree in business or marketing preferred.
  • 8+ years of retail and marketing experience in positions of increasing responsibility.
  • Proven track record of successful brand and/or retail activation in cannabis.
  • Experience leading a significant brick-and-mortar and consumer-oriented business.
  • Experience with full or partial P&L responsibility and ROI metrics.
  • Entrepreneurial drive, cognitive agility, and business acumen across organizational functions required.
