Market Research Analyst

Fairfax, VA +1

ICF seeks an entry- to mid-level Market Research Analyst to support its public sector go-to-market efforts. Reporting to the Market Research Manager, the Analyst will support market research activities with specific public sector accounts to produce materials for monthly account reviews, and conduct ongoing research to help identify new opportunities for these accounts and other strategic company initiatives.


The Analyst will be a super user for PowerBI, using it to produce data visualizations, reports, and other materials. They will become intimately familiar with the Dynamics Read Only (DRO) internal system, and serve as the point of contact and functional expert for potential improvements, alterations, and enhancements to the platform. The Analyst will play a key role in automating and enhancing market research activities in PowerBI.


The position will have the flexibility of being hybrid or remote


Specific Responsibilities

  • Curate, maintain, and organize weekly opportunity tracker emails from GovWin for each strategic SMX account, with the end goal of producing an easily accessible and reviewable Excel document that summarizes both new opportunities and relevant updates to older opportunities for each account.
  • Use your existing experience with sam.gov (FPDS), agency procurement forecasts, and other mechanisms to proactively search for new opportunities in each account every month, adding these opportunities to an Excel document.
  • Create PowerPoint slides for all newly identified opportunities that link to all available context and will help inform the account team’s discussion.
  • Use PowerBI data dashboards to produce summary content slides for account meetings.
  • Become the “super user” of PowerBI within the SMX team – a reliable point of contact who is fully informed of the capabilities within the Dynamics Read Only (DRO) system and how existing resources can be effectively utilized for various data reporting needs.
  • Work with the DRO team to create new dashboards or to make alterations to existing dashboards based on team needs.
  • Produce data summary visualizations via PowerBI should a new visualization still be necessary to service a specific request.
  • Support the Research Manager on other research reports on an ad-hoc, as-needed basis.
  • Maintain existing expert familiarity with GovWin, DACIS, sam.gov, Bloomberg and other research tools to support market analyst requests.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analysis, Statistics, Informatics, Business, or a related field;
  • At least 1 year of professional experience with market research and/or business development in government contracting; internship experience will also be considered.
  • At least 1 year of practical experience with data analytics;
  • Proficiency with PowerBI, Tabeau or other data visualization tools;
  • Strong Excel skills required, including experience with pivot tables, conditional formatting, filtering, sorting, and the use of functions.
  • Ability to learn and quickly master extracting data from various federal databases.


Preferred Skills

  • 2-3 years of experience in market research or business development in the government contracting space.
  • Strong familiarity and hands-on experience with PowerBI.
  • Experience with GovWin, sam.gov, Dacis, Bloomberg Government, or other specific contract databases.


Professional Skills

  • Ability to be flexible and multi-task, completing shorter research asks while maintaining a long-term, ongoing, and regular Account Support cadence.
