Manager, US Communications

This role added to current structure will give the team a balance between senior strategic roles and operational roles to deliver comprehensive communications strategies to support business needs appropriately in line with business expectations while providing team members with flexibility and development opportunities.


Working with the US Oncology Communications team, agency partner and subject matter experts across the business, this role will help to implement and coordinate execution of our communications plans for the Oncology Business Unit:

  • Work with Communications Head / Sr Manager to develop and execute communications plans aligned to business priorities, brand story and broader communications objectives across internal and external channels.
  • Manage implementation of communication plans with agency partner (project management), including coordinating with cross functional internal stakeholders for approval processes.
  • Implement digital and social media plans defined by team leaders in support of the business (coordination with US Digital team, getting materials approved, report metrics).
  • Help develop and implement internal comms in a coordinated way, with direction from leaders in the team and collaborating with US and Global Oncology Communications teams members as needed.
  • Collaborate with Global Communications team in the business unit on their plans regarding key data and regulatory milestones, disease awareness activities and other activities to support key business objectives.
  • Working with agency partner and corporate media team to track and analyze media coverage.
  • Manage the implementation and tracking of key projects to support business objectives, including managing against budgets, deadlines and reporting progress and outcomes
  • Collaborate with other BU communications managers to learn on best practices, bring forward new/innovative ideas for team consideration and improve the team's processes.
  • Contribute to a range of other internal and external projects - the ability to work on multiple projects at once in a dynamic environment is crucial and part of the fast-paced environment and nature of the role.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications or liberal arts focus (e.g., English/writing, government/history)
  • 4+ years of relevant internal and external communications experience, with specific experience in pharmaceuticals (at least 2 years).
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least three of the following areas:
  • Strategic planning
  • Excellent communications track-record
  • Strong interpersonal skills with multiple and diverse stakeholders (including senior stakeholders)
  • Experience developing content across a range of platforms and media (digital-friendly, visual/storytelling style, such as videos and infographics); versatility in creating both branded and unbranded content and willingness to innovate


Preferred Qualifications:

The following characteristics are a plus:

  • Candidate must be able to work independently and respond to a dynamic, fast paced environment. Additional training/education in communications, business or healthcare
